That sounds like a great one. Will have to do that one day. Preston Park for me today. 52nd with a time of 22:46. Bloody freezing. 245 runners.

You're right it is a great event. Great time and to knock 5 minutes off last year is a great effort. It was VERY warm last year I recall. 1:49:23 for me this time which was an improvement on 12 months ago but a way off my pb for Barns Green. I must have done it 5 times now but the amount of...

After what felt like weeks of running in pain (back & hamstring) I've had 10 days complete rest but need to get back on it as I'm doing the Eden Project marathon in October. Fingers crossed.

Cheers, I've been told it can take a while so I'll give it another go. I've been thinking about surgery also. Who did use?

My eyesight is getting pretty rubbish so I thought I'd try contact lenses for the first time. I'm just about ok on the road but trail running I need to see where I'm going a bit more. Just spent a very frustrating and ultimately unsuccessful 30 minutes trying to put them in at Boots. They've...

17 miles for me with a heavy head cold and heavy legs. 2 hours 37 minutes 54 seconds. Hope I'm feeling better on April 12th.

Cheers. It's meant to be 5.5m quick followed by 12m steady but I think I'll take it steady for the whole run.

Splendid. That's what I thought. Will be doing my best Ian Rush impressions along the seafront tomorrow morning in that case.

Any advice on running with a cold? Did 8.5m in 1hr 10m last night and felt ok but have 17.5m to look forward to tomorrow. I've been told above neck ok and below neck not ok? Sound about right?

Did this too. 01:22:53 according to the email from Worthing Striders so must have finished near Pondicherry. First cross country I've done for years and off the back of a night shift so I'm happy with that. That last hill was a bitch mind! £5 for a bacon bap, cake, mince pie and unlimited tea...

I've just entered for my first cross country run The Downland Devil next month http://www.worthingstriders.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=124&Itemid=57 I hadn't thought about different footwear until your post so had a look and Brooks do a trail version of the shoes I wear...

The new training top is fine for shorter runs but I've always found replica tops to be right painful *******s on the nips.

Get to a proper running shop is my advice. The wrong shoes can really mess you up. Run in Blatchington Road or The Jog Shop in George Street are the best locally imo. Oh, and great work getting yourself out there.

Just done my last training run ahead of the TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca on Sunday. Forecast says it's going to be 28 degrees @ 9:00 when the race starts! Considering I found Barns Green half a couple of weeks back a bit warm I think I may struggle a bit.

Thanks HT. It's been the best preparation of the 5 for me with no injuries to speak of and fairly decent weather on the whole. Hoping for another year on year improvement. Man flu this last week might have an effect but hopefully not. Good luck everyone.

Also my 5th. I'd leave it. You know you can do the distance so best not to risk injury. Did 11.5m today myself after 22m last Sunday and 20m the Sunday before. Hoping to beat my 3hrs 58m from last year.

Brighton half tomorrow for a few on here, including myself, tomorrow. Thankfully the weather forecast is decent if a little chilly perhaps. Has anyone been down on the seafront today to see what the course looks like? Good luck to all taking part anyway. 434667303163420673

Yes indeed. Brighton marathon number 5 this year. Hoping for improvement again this year. Training going OK I think. New PB at parkrun this morning. New shoes now should be absolutely fine as others have said.

Made the mistake of ordering the new TomTom Runner GPS watch when my Garmin 305 finally died. Load of old rubbish. Sent it back today and bought the FR220 instead. Wonderful piece of kit.
