I just can't see that. When they're on the pitch they'll be thinking about whether or not they need to win the game - whether they need to score or just need to see the game out. Nothing else.
The only other thing that could really play with their mind is if Burnley lose on Monday and the...
Sure, but we were up against dreadful opposition that time.
Not as important as it could have been. We'll either need a draw or a win against Middlesbrough. Had 'brough have won by 2 tonight, we'd have had to avoid defeat on Monday to stand any chance on the last day. Monday just got a lot less...
I don't think the current league position will be on their minds so much as the result they know they need. They'd go into that last game thinking 'win this home game and we're promoted'.
We need it to be more than 3-0 and a 1 goal loss to Burnley. We need at least a 5 goal swing if we're going to make it with a loss on the last day, and even 5 probably won't be enough.
In terms of being up for it, I'm not sure Hereford is the best example. We were dreadful. Although to be fair to the players, they knew how much was riding on it.
Obviously we'd rather need a draw than a win though, we'd just have to go with the right mentality, which isn't guaranteed.
Definitely - even if we lose, we're ok.
It's not quite like reaching the final, as a draw against Derby will leave us needing a win in 90 minutes, but a playoff final gives you longer.
While true, wait until after Derby. If we do manage to win that, I'm personally going to write to My Hughton (because he clearly needs advice from some random idiot).
Firstly, you've got that wrong, I've already commented on one challenge. Secondly, the challenges have been by different players - Barton gets singled out because it's so often him making them.
