Bit simplistic to dismiss it as "shit". I've stuck to the 5:2 diet for around nine months, and in that time, I've lost a couple of stone, kept to it, and managed to eat healthy food for the rest of the time. I'm not trying to force the diet down anyone's throat, but to say it's shit is just...
You can have one if you fancy it. I had muesli and fruit this morning, and I'll go through until tomorrow morning with just water and maybe an Earl Grey. Drinks lots of water - it'll help you not feel hungry, and also keep you alert. Chewing gum is also a big help for me, too.
Good luck.
Blimey, how patronising are you? I 'understand' your opinion, just didn't want to get into a long drawn out debate about the pros/cons of diets.
If you can't see the difference between 5-2 and starving yourself for two weeks, that's your lookout. As I've said before, weight loss wasn't my...

I agree that Cambridge diet-style fasting is rubbish, but that is prolonged calorie restriction, as opposed to intermittent fasting.
The good thing about 5-2 is that there is no special foods that you have to eat, or avoid. Apart from the two fasting days, you can pretty much eat whatever you like. However for maximum effect, a healthy diet is probably best!
Eat, Stop, Eat, by Brad Pilon, is an excellent read on the...
Eat less, move more. The only way that works, long-term.
No good saying eating less isn't an option, or else you might as well not bother. And if you really cut down, then do more exercise. There is no shortcut - it's one or the other or, ideally, both.
5-2 is a great diet. In fact it's more...
