Bit of a straw man that, I don't think anyone was suggesting the PL should use the Belgian system.
I understand the advantages of the Belgian system, and why it's done that way. It can make for an entertaining end of the season. I also don't think it's inherently wrong to halve the points and...
Well I'm sure the Belgian clubs are used to it and understand how to plan their seasons accordingly.
It's something closer to a US style format, eg NFL. First round robin league system and then the best teams compete for the overall win.
At least with the Belgian system the benefit of doing...
The Belgian league seems like a lot of fun. There's about 7 or 8 clubs who theoretically have the means to win the title, and different clubs regularly do. It's genuinely competitive and changes shape every season (largely because all the best players get pilfered but alas...). The playoff...
USG are more dominant this season than even the previous ones, having sold or lost star player after star player - Undav, Vanzeir, Mitoma, Adingra, Boniface... Now they seem to have a new set of great players, maybe Amoura the most prominent?
Really goes to show the power of Starlizard's data...
Same conveyor belt and succession planning paying dividends for USG as for us then.
Each year they lose their manager and star players but they keep on performing. Even without the option of loaning any of our players this season.
Who are the most exciting of their most recent recruits?
And we’re forbidden by UEFA to loan them anyone too.
Hopefully they can recruit well in absence of our shared data (does Starlizard fall under the UEFA restrictions as a third party?)
Probably the best possible draw for them, although will still be by far the underdogs.
Man U vs Europa League behemoths Sevilla
Feyenoord vs Roma in a repeat of last year's Conference League final
Fun set of fixtures.
A third ruled out for offside.
Man United
Arsenal/Sporting Lisbon
Sevilla
Feyenoord
Juventus
Leverkusen
Roma
Union Saint Gilloise
What company for a club of their stature.
Boniface has looked impressive. Showing great strength and a deft touch - good CF play.
Is this Union Berlin side really the fourth best in Germany? Not impressed so far.
Think according to the current rules, his arm was in an unnatural position, making his body bigger. Like the penalty for Chelsea the other day.
Quite why the ref thought it was worth a yellow card though...?
And now 3-2 to USG. They are excellent on the counter.
"je" is the diminutive in Dutch. So a "pintje" is effectively a "small pint", which, while logically makes no sense in terms of absolute measurements, makes sense in that a standard glass of beer in the Netherlands is a 25cl (approx. half pint).
I'm not sure why the Belgians do it differently.
Pretty soft penalty really, ball ricocheted of Goldson's arm from a yard away. Argument being the arm was in an unnatural position, but from that close range and the deflection involved... a bit dubious really imo.
Oh well, 2-0 USG.
Union have had the better of it, Rangers been poor.
Adingra has put a couple of good balls in but the best players for Union have been Teuma and Amani.
