I got the impression he wanted to sign for us but we didn't put an acceptable offer so I'm sure he wishes he was playing at the Amex today. He certainly would be an improvement on Crofts in midfield.
They weren't willing to sell then though. It's impossible to say for sure but it seems like if we'd gone in earlier with the the same bid Middlesbrough have put in, we would have had a good chance of signing him.
They would have listened if we'd got in early before Middlesbrough put their offer in.
This is just another sign that there are some serious issues behind the scenes at our club.
Something isn't right when we can't compete financially with Middlesbrough when we get almost double their attendances and have raised over £10 million in transfer fees in the last 8 months. It's not even as if they are in receipt of parachute payments anymore.
