When I moved house, I put boxes of CDs and DVDs in boxes at the front of the house with a sign for people to help themselves. Ended up being a brilliant chance to chat with neighbours and random folk about music and films. Then, whatever was left went to the charity shop or tip.

Another vote for the Reef /Fanning combo. Comfortable, not too pricey (shop around) with a bottle opener in the sole. What more could you want.....? They also go to 'clown-size' as well!
