[Misc] Lasting Power of Attorney help

Another vote for not needing a solicitor for this. There are many things in life where the expertise of a solicitor is well worth the money, but this isn't one of them - so easy to fill in online. It's expensive enough registering the POAs - no need to add to the cost with unnecessary legal fees.

[Football] FA Cup 5th round draw [Wolves away]

If the take up for this is low, what are the chances of this being a rare fixture that eventually opens to purchase history?

    [Politics] Inheritance Tax

All this bollocks about it being a tax on the dead too. It isn't - it is a tax on the unearned wealth coming to the beneficiaries - and with pretty high thresholds so that most 'normal' people won't pay any. Usual tory policy of tax cuts for the better-off.

[Misc] Completely pointless phrases in adverts, recipes, instructions etc

Oh my god. This is the best thing ever invented for the internet. My life is now complete. I absolutely cannot stand having to wade through a load of complete drivel to finally get to the recipe for what I want to cook. I don't care about your f***ing life story, I just want a nice dinner.

Last season it went to purchase history - I know because I got one.

I could never bring myself to even consider any insurance product from Churchill.

'Skill' in the late 80s. What really gets my goat is 'the proof is in the pudding'. No, it isn't.

[Football] Gary Lineker to step back from presenting MOTD

Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread so don't know if this has been replied to or not. The thing is, in late 20s early 30s Germany this isn't what was happening either (to start with). I do not think Gary Linkeker was suggesting this is what is, or is about to happen, here today. But the...

[Football] Who are you rooting for today?

I cannot even comprehend wanting Palace to win. Chelsea doing badly is funny, but we'll all forget about it before too long. I don't care about them one bit. Palace to win - never except in the most extreme circumstances (i.e. them winning keeps us up or similar).

[Politics] Do we need a General Strike?

Whether that's right or wrong, I fail to see what that's got to do with nurses? None of that stuff is in nurses' control so I don't see why that would be linked to nurses' pay. The NHS as a whole is inefficient, therefore frontline care givers should accept an(other) real terms pay cut? Doesn't...

[Technology] Hive or other such products

We've got Honeywell Evohome throughout the house. Independently controllable TRVs in each room, so we can set when the heating goes on and off in each individual room. That means we're only heating the rooms we're using (e.g. bedrooms off during the day while rooms we're actually in remain on)...

    [Albion] Man United away tickets

Well - a rare occasion that it's gone as far as purchase history. The silly kick-off time, 300 miles away, the week before Christmas has worked for me - although I accept it's very inconvenient for many. But being based in the north, my son and I are looking forward to our first live Albion game...

    [News] Not looking good!

Without getting into the detail, of which I have little expertise, isn't the Gulf Stream a current system rather than a wind system, and therefore affected by the increase in fresh water from melting ice caps? The Jet Stream is the wind/weather system.

[Misc] And just when you thought our judicial system couldn't get any worse.......

Whatever your opinions on the case, what has happened is not because of the judiciary. Whenever something like this is in the news, politicians and the press (particularly of the right leaning persuasion) go for 'woolly liberal lefty judges'. Judges don't make the laws, they simply ensure they...

    [Travel] Bailif advice needed

But the Council hasn't sold the debt has it? It issued a PCN and you didn't pay it, so it took the matter to court and obtained a court order for the debt. The bailiffs are appointed by the court to recover the debt set out in the court order - and the bailiffs' costs fall to the debtor.
