Trump will become president.

He will cut all support for Ukraine.

Instead he will pump everything into Israel, possibly triggering war with Iran (albeit my guess is Iran will shit themselves long before then).

The question will be whether Russia or China fancies practicing proxy war by arming Iran. My guess is they know what a bunch of soppy male chauvinist useless ****s the ayatollahs are, and will suddenly....oh, look over there, isn't that a crested swallow tit?
What support ?

There is currently none from the US.

Trump can't cut anything. There is no longer anything to cut.

Has the US not been supplying weaponry and logistics? My point is that Biden has supported and will continue to support Ukraine (provided he can fend of the MAG wanka Republicans) but if Trump gets in he won't even try.

albeit adding to it has become difficult

Yes - there was aid in the past.

No longer. The US has finished supplying any aid. It has proved itself to be an unreliable partner.

Aid has finished. The house speaker simply will not allow any vote to be held on supplying any more. The aid has already been cut off. Nothing for Trump to cut.

I was down a drone rabbit hole the other day, and discovered that US companies provide software to Ukraine that allows their drones to navigate a safe path through the Russian electronic warfare jamming devices.

There's a link in post #14928 if interested.

Maybe but I think it more likely, rather than ‘cutting off support’ for Ukraine, knowing Trump, he will set himself up as the ‘great peacemaker’, (“because you know, Russia wouldn’t have invaded when I was President, Putin is my friend” ) - which is worse because not only will funding to Ukraine be stopped but he may put Zelenskyy under serious diplomatic pressure to accept a peace deal from Russia that concedes the Crimea and the occupied regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. That to me would be more criminal than Trump just ‘cutting off Ukraine’ and removing it from his desk. He already did this to the Palestinians when he agreed a peace plan with his mate Netanyahu which formally annexed a third of the West Bank into Isreal - IMO he wouldn’t think twice doing it to the Ukranians to appease Putin.

My understanding is that Iran (and NK, ) are bolstering Russia’s campaign in Ukraine rather than the other way round (I could be wrong but see article below) and tbh, since Saturday, Iran have no need to fight a proxy wars with Israel, the gloves came off the moment they launched 300 drones and missiles at Israel.

OK....thanks. And so, it seems that once again then, this time by different means, US engagement overseas has become a disaster. North Korea, Vietnam, El Salvador, Iraq, and now leading on the Ukrainians only to drop them in the shit. And I hadn't even realized.

That’s not quite true ( afaia unless you have news updates since yesterday? ) - yes, the US Aid bill has been stalled since February but it’s still on the dock flapping for air like a fish wanting to get back in the water.

The House speaker (Republican Mike Johnson) is trying to still steer the Aid bill through the House which includes aid to Ukraine (and some senior Republicans do support the bill)

So as someone once said of Leonard Cohen’s music, ‘dead yet still alive’ 😉

Yes, as of today and without getting into Semantics, it isn't the US as such, where there is still broad bipartisan support in both houses.

It's literally a few MAGA extremists, daily publishing anti Ukraine, Pro Russian propaganda (the worst is that sick blonde witch Margorie Taylor Greene), who have hijacked US foreign policy.

The foreign aid bill easily passed the senate in February, it would by all accounts, easily pass the house of reps too, but speaker Johnson simply refuses to allow the bill to be voted upon as Trump tells him not too, and the MAGA loons say they'll remove him from speakedship and unseat him if he puts it to vote.

US foreign policy and national security had been Hijacked by a few pro Russian MAGA loons.

She just lies and spreads lies for Putin

What changed today from yesterday? Am I missing some news here? (And please don’t post me twitter posts, I mean MSN that the US has decided to cut all funding?) That would be massive.

Otherwise - It is a little more than Semantics isn’t it? - it is simply not true that the US have ‘cut off aid to Ukraine’ and decided that no more aid will be supplied and not true the Speaker is preventing a vote - He’s trying to get a vote! - see my reply to @Harry Wilson's tackle above and the Atlantic article (a bit more reliable than the usual twitter MAGA feeds I suspect ). MaGA supporters have threatened to vote him out if he proceeds but he has enough backing from the Democrats to win a vote trying to oust him.

Very different from:

“No longer. The US has finished supplying any aid. It has proved itself to be an unreliable partner.

Whether that still remains the case under a Trump Presidency is another question but under Biden’s Administration, there is still a lot of willing to help fund Ukraine. It’s just been slow and aid package bills keep stalling because Trump supporters have been trying to piggyback it onto immigration reforms and now threatening to oust the Speaker if he puts it on the Floor (but the Dems have enough votes to prevent that) , and yes, the amounts have not been enough.

Well in that case I wait to be utterly surprised when further aid for Ukraine is actually agreed in the US.

The proof will be in what actually happens - and on the evidence of the speaker trying every trick in the book so far to derail aid - then I don't even have a 1% hope it will actually happen. I wait to be gobsmacked.

This video, giving Joe Biden health advice, was seemingly made without a trace of irony. Check out the teeth at 01:28.

(Joe Biden's age: 81. Average female life expectancy in Russia: 78, male 68 and falling fast)

There is still a chance the US will restart aid - not all bets off yet IMO,,🤞🏻

Interesting developments in Tblisi Georgia today.

They've got a divided house, with the pro Russian PM party holding majority.

Been massive protests there in recent weeks, today they were having the draught reading of a Moscow inspired "foreign agents" Bill, where similarly any critics of regime would he branded a foreign agent, Pro Russians want to force it through, big protests outside the parliament building.

Inside the parliament, the leader of the largest pro western majority has just launched for the pro Russian leader and lamped him!

All going off 👀

Yes I read that. Nothing to stop US companies doing business with Ukraine... unless Trump gets in and sanctions it of course.

Of course - the proof is in the pudding - Im not blaming the Speaker necessarily though - can’t be easy ruling such a fractious Republican Party blackmailing you - they’re all as bad as each other - personally I think the Dems need to get behind the Speaker and stop letting a minority of hardliners dictate the passage of the Aid Bill. The US Congress is a joke.

Early on in the war, I watched a video by an academic, whose name escapes me. The gist was that Russia has been at war with the west for decades. It is just that the west hadn't noticed, at least until the invasion.

It may be years, or decades, or never, until we find out the true scale of Russian interference in western politics, elections, referenda etc.

"War is the continuation of policy with other means"

The west has been asleep since 1918. We have never has a proper physical war with the great civilization of China, and have endured a fair bit of pissing about with Russia during their communist era.

America, the world policeman, has always had a farm hand plus city slicker mentality, with added god-fearing. It's only policy appeared to be to crush communism, and it has been wrong footed both by Islam and by the fact that Russia has grown our of its ML past.

China is exploring the possibility of the value of global capital, with espionage its chief weapon, while Russia is still exploring what scope it may have to use military power. The west just sits and watches now, struck dumb by inertia, petty internal politics and the like.

Russia and China have long stabilized their policy towards the west and are pursuing it with different means.

Pretty sure the security services have a good sense of the real world, albeit read Peter Wright (Spycatcher) to get insight into what motivates the US security forces (whatever it is 'reeks of an unclean mind').
