[Albion] Is it weird to “enjoy” a defeat?

Satisfied is a fair bit away from enjoyed, for me. I was slightly more glass half-full than half-empty but I've not forgotten the negatives in that 48% of the glass

I think you can enjoy a game without being happy that we lost it.

I’m a bit surprised by how effusive people are over the Liverpool game though tbh, we’ve had defeats where we played much better and some were more upset about it than this.

I've been on the losing side of cricket matches (as a player) that afterwards I've been really happy and buzzing about. Gutted to lose, yes, but equally still on a high from how the game played out. It mostly comes down to the atmosphere the game gets played in. Lose a tight game to a pack of ***** is a very different thing to losing a tight game that was played with mutual respect and appreciation.

Of course, winning a tight game against a pack of ***** will always result in the biggest high of all.
Obvious joke about matches against the Australian cricket team is obvious. :lolol:

I find Cricket very different. As a spectator I often enjoy a great batting or bowling performance from an opponent. With the Albion, I can appreciate a good performance from an opposing player but I can't enjoy it. I would always enjoy a close, skilful, test series that England lose to a heavily one-sided England win; maybe with the Ashes as an exception.

I think that was my point.. it was a performance that was OK but was far more competitive than I feared it would be (hence it was positive vs. expectations) , but couldn't really complain that the best team won on the day. Maybe it was the lower expectations given recent labours and injuries, plus the hardest ground to go and play in (this season) that made the loss easier to digest than one where I felt hard done by either by bad luck, poor officiating or mistakes despite having played well or been the better team. Spurs away was one of those, West Ham, Chelsea too?

Never felt this feeling as much as when we lost 3-2 to Arsenal at home in the cup

Exactly, I was prepped for a heavy defeat and not at all happy with the pre match whinging from RDZ hence I was very happy with how we played and the fact that we took the lead. We could have scrapped a draw but it would not have been deserved and we don’t get smash and grab luck very often anyway. Seems I am weird for enjoying it, doesn’t happen very often at all when we lose. I was totally gutted with the way we lost at Spurs.

Giroud came on and showed why he is a top draw player he ruined us tbf. Don’t get that comparison we competed against Liverpool just didn’t create much. Don’t get all the fuss considering we haven’t lost to them for a while. The reaction is a bit happy clappy we took part yay 🙌
Rather we got some forwards on right after Salah scored instead no reaction from the boss.

Bizarrely I think I may have enjoyed the Liverpool defeat more than the Brentford draw. Illogical I know but that game was turgid and the only redeeming fact was that they didn't mug us at the end.

Quite, I hated the Brentford game, it was a horrible watch, and if I’d been wearing a snood I’d have been pulling it over my face so often, in De Zerbi style

This was how I felt with the loss at the Emirates in January.. we were ultimately well-beaten by a top side but still in the game until the end, but no cause for anger or frustration through bad luck, poor officiating or a horrible mistake. It was the right result based on the relative performances on show ..... albeit I would have loved a scrappy equaliser at the end!
and Saturday was the opposite!!!! Peeved at the referee first half, and whilst I concede that Arsenal were clearly superior regardless, the refereeing 1st half changes the picture of how I feel about a defeat!
