[Albion] Potter returning vs Murray returning

I’m bored of the rdz speculation (won’t sign a contract, effectively offers himself up to other “bigger” clubs) when we know we’re all 100% behind bloom.

He’s playing with potters players in the main. And not playing much past “potterball”.

Murray was seen as scum when he made the move to palace (was even a mention in a song about him).

BUT Murray accepted back with no problems and even an ambassador.

If we take potter back he’ll know his place and be grateful. Excellent manager and won’t want to
Leave .

He’s our man not a poyet soundalike.

Notwithstanding that events have moved on in the last couple of days (record profits, Barber contract, Liverpool cooling interest in Roberto, he giving a far more upbeat press conference) I think the vast majority of fans:

1) Still love Roberto.
2) Don't want Potter back after the Chelsea incident.
3) Always wished Bloom had offered Murray a decent contract rather than push him towards Palace.

Won't happen, major slap in the face for TB and totally unforgivable.
Speculate as much as you like, but TB will never have him back.
Worked out with RDZ, but could have gone so wrong.

RDZ has shown us what was missing during the Potter tenure. It's been a bit frustrating recently but a step back to the 'potential' of potterball would not be my ideal.

My hope is that DeZerbi stays (this would also mean he is happy with the plan). If not then let's have a look at the next name on Tony and Paul's list.

I was never a great fan of Potter but I am scared of one awful season undoing all the progress of recent years, while unlikely the murderous standards of the EPL make it possible. With Potter here, things would go back to being a little more mundane on the pitch, but he wouldn't relegate us. If the club opted for it, I wouldn't whinge

He'll be off again as soon as someone waves a large cheque at him. And he'll take half the coaching staff with him again.

I am astonished by what I am reading on NSC at the moment. We are playing the most exciting football I have ever seen with some amazing young attacking players and some posters are calling for more pragmatism, a return to Potter and a call for us to aim for avoiding relegation.

I feel confident the club are going to show more ambition that some of our supporters. Thank f*** for that!!

Why a slap in the face? We got Potter in and he did a tremendous job then we got paid for it. Then we got De Zerbi and Europe and if he leaves we get paid again. If we went back to Potter it would almost be a masterstroke.
Look back a few years and tell people we would still have Potter in 2025, have been in Europe and been paid £35m for it and they would think you were mad.

One big difference

Glen Murray was a top footballer.
Graham Potter is not a top manager.

Anyone who thinks he should come back or will come back needs to give their head a wobble.
This club is progressive.

If we’re going full retro, why not Alan Mullery or Chris Hughton - both available and far more successful for us than Potter.

I’ve never been a fan of going back, and as a club we’ve done it so often in the past with players and managers. Look what happened with Micky Adams part 2.

However in this case there is a zero chance Potter comes back. We’ve moved on and outgrown him, made a packet and benefitted from his transitioning the club.

When RDZ does move on, he will not be in our plans - and I doubt we’d be in his. He knows he would not be warmly welcomed back here.

The aim in any progressive organisation when a staffmember leaves is to get an upgrade as a replacement. Potter isn’t an upgrade.

We shouldn’t forget that Potter turned the team around playing style wise, but he also benefited from Hughton’s defensive nous.

There can be no doubt that RdZ has also benefited from Potter’s work, and has taken us to another level that I don’t think Potter would have achieved (just a personal opinion). However, under RdZ I do feel were weaker out of possession.

But Potter back?
Not for me, as @dazzer6666 highlights were a progressive organisation, and a returning manager should not be a consideration.

From what Tony has said since he would have given Glen a better contract but Gus made it clear that he didn't want him. Blame is completely with Gus.
