[Football] Leicester City charged with alleged PSR breach

They cheated FFP to get promoted, the first time, and got away with a £7.5m fine vs. £100m in TV revenue. Joke.

Until the punishment for cheating outweighs the benefits, clubs will continue to do it.
The punishment should be relegation that season, irrespective of final league position. After all, if Leicester get promoted the riches and glory of a single season in the PL far outweigh another season in the Championship.

Totally agree. Given that the EPL is a private member's organisation and teams are invited into the "club" by virtue of being promoted from the EFL surely the invite could therefore be removed to those that have fallen foul of the rules of the said "club".

I see Leicester fans are crying corruption

They are of course one of the clubs that caused the FFP to brought in when they overspent and went into administration

They then of course overspent to get promoted, potentially taking someone elses place in the PL

Currently paying players over 100k a week in the championship
In part because the club is doing absolutely nothing to dampen down the conspiracy theories, instead preferring to create a siege mentality to avert blame.

I guess they are also looking at Everton and hoping that a furious fan response will sway an appeals panel

Interesting article about where it all went wrong for Leicester. Worth bearing all of this in mind when we bemoan our club for selling a player, not paying more to buy a player or not increasing the wage structure.

The one common theme here : Leicester, Everton and Forest all claim to be innocent!

Next up, Everton again, Man City, Chelsea and who else knows - amazing that they all claim their innocence - either they are telling porkies or the authorities are making false accusations? I'll let you decide.
Not true. Everton and Forest admitted they had breached the rule but offered mitigation. AsI understand it Leicester are arguing that they can't be charged now because they don't come under the jurisdiction of the PL this season. Presumably They accept they could be charged if they get promoted. Of course none of that precludes the separate EFL charge.

Probably been asked already, but what happens if they don't get promoted this season? Would the punishment be held back until they are next in the Premier League?

Didn’t catch the full piece but someone on SSN was trying to make the point that Leicester should not be punished as they already got punished that season by getting relegated.

Um, no. Just because an attempt at cheating did not get the required outcome doesn’t mitigate cheating in the first place.

I think there is a difference between a technical breach which is admitted and a wholesale abuse and cover up. The punishment handed out should reflect that.

Quite. I somebody commits an horrific dive in the box to try to win a penalty, he (hopefully) gets a yellow card.

'Not getting awarded a penalty' is not their 'punishment'.

This is such a nonsense.

See previous comments about getting promoted by cheating.

How about getting UEFA cup football on the back of it.

10 minutes to save themselves at Bristol City. In current form, play-offs are beckoning which is amazing when you think how they started the season.

Cue an equaliser no doubt.

They lost, the down side to Leicester falling apart is it means Leeds are likely to go up automatically. Realistically it's 2 from 3 of Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich. Southampton look destined to the play offs where they will hopefully fail as well.

I wouldn't write off Southampton for automatic promotion. They have 2 games in hand and still have to play the 3 teams above them.

4th defeat in 6 games is as many as they lost in the previous 32. The upside is that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall definitely won’t want to stay in the Championship next season if they mess it up.
