Look out for a new Swedish crime drama from Walter Presents from today.

The Lost is a six-episode series that is described as a ‘nerve-wracking thriller’, which tells the story of a seemingly ordinary truck driver who makes a fatal mistake that bears tragic consequences.

Look out for Sorjonen/Bordertown favourite Ville Virtanen among the cast.

On an unusually hot summer’s day, Erwin drives over the Öresund Bridge into Sweden, with eight Syrian refugees smuggled in his tanker truck. When his vehicle is stopped for a routine police check, they instruct Erwin to properly shut the half-open tanker lid – which happens to be the refugee’s only access to air. Erwin drives away from the police checkpoint with every intention to stop and re-open the lid as he knows that the survival of his passengers depend on it.

However, an upsetting phone call from his wife completely distracts him from the crisis at hand. Inside the closed tank, tragedy looms as the refugees find it increasingly hard to breathe. Initially, Erwin began illegally smuggling to genuinely help others in desperate need, but over time his efforts to stay out of jail and cover his tracks put his morals into question. Matters only get more complicated for Erwin when he discovers that a key witness is on the loose and poses a threat to his freedom.

Regardless of his intentions, will justice catch up with Erwin in the end?

Finnish crime drama Reindeer Mafia is just around the corner on Walter Presents UK. Furthermore, look out for Beck’s Mikael Persbrandt in the cast.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Arctic, this gripping thriller tells the story of a powerful family-run mafia, which is ripped apart by the death of its matriarch.

The series kicks off in Lapland where the great arctic matriarch Brita Nelihanka has long ruled over the wastelands in the north, but she is about to lose her fight against cancer. After her death, her relatives gather to distribute the inheritance, but Brita’s dying testament offers a host of shocking revelations. The family is torn apart when Brita’s will is read and long-kept secrets about the family’s rise to wealth are finally revealed. This triggers an intense power struggle between members of the clan and the community over control of the local businesses and ownership of the vast areas of surrounding land. As this powerful family conflict unravels in a brutally unforgiving environment how far will each member go to get what they want?

Just finished watching this rather memorable and enjoyable Kiwi show, After the Party.

It's a six-part thrilling drama based in Aotearoa/New Zealand about a woman who loses everything when she accuses her husband of a sex crime against her daughter’s teenage friend and no one believes her.

Penny Wilding played by Robyn Malcolm is a science teacher, basketball coach, environmental activist, mother and grandmother. Penny tells it like it is, whether she’s waging graffiti attacks on fishing boats, lecturing teenage boys on how porn will destroy their sex lives or laying her middle-aged body bare for life-drawing artists. The modelling fits really well with the changing mood and dynamic Penny experiences. Her attitude wins her few friends in her close-knit coastal town of Wellington, and Penny’s fine with that.

But five years ago, Penny’s world imploded when she accused her husband Phil played by Peter Mullan of a sex crime and nobody believed her. When Penny’s now ex-husband returns to town, her daughter pressures her to let go of her accusations and move on. As her old furies rise to the surface, Penny must decide what’s more important – the truth or rebuilding her relationships with everyone around her?

Channel 4 says it will air “soon”.

You shouldn't need telling as you must have already seen it, but Sightseers is back on Film4.

If you haven't seen it then I really do despair for the future of humanity.
