But if this form continues this season he will be on thin ice to start next season...Having finished 6th in the Premier League, still only three points off the European slots this year, and won a tough group in the first Euro outing, there are folk calling for De Zerbi to be sacked. All this from having one of the longest injury lists in the league and nowhere near the financial muscle to compete with at least 8 clubs.

He’s focused on attacking play and needs the players to carry out his style.
We had it last season and surprised teams.
This season we’ve been found out defensively.
We need some more controlled league games where we pick up some much needed points.
We’ll be able to focus on the league now with us being out of the cup competitions.
I can see clubs sniffing around Roberto being not so keen at the present.
Btw, that’s an obvious Roberto in vote.

I think what we need is RDZ to come out and say what his future is now. The speculation and rumours has affected the group for sure. If he’s staying then it might settle things down. If he’s off then we can plan for the future

I think the truth is that no club better than us is going to want him. He could get a move for more money but a tougher proposition. I think this year has been an experience for him and looking back he may think that perhaps he has said the wrong thing at the wrong time. He has certainly not brought the fans and the players together which is a pity. Any team needs to defend and as the commentators today indicated leaving our defenders one on one with the quality of their attack was simply naïve.

RDZ seems an inspirational leader and a ground breaking tactician. However, he has not shown evidence of having the pragmatism that's sometimes needed to grind results at the very highest level. Tonight, with a depleted side against a formidable opponent, his approach suggested the opposite. It hurts that we lost heavily, partly because of this, but in the longer term, if tonight leads him to remaining with us a bit longer whilst he either learns that pragmatism, or becomes Bielsa not Guardiola, we'll be the winners, because don't doubt that, despite his failings, he may be the best manager our little vaunted unfashionable club ever has..

We had chances to get back into the game but we don't seem to zip the ball around up front as quickly as we used to. And we made individual errors for the first two goals, while the third and fourth collectively were League Two defending at best (although the third was offside). Not really RDZ's fault, although I might have set out to keep things tight for the first 45, especially after what happened in Marseille.
The biggest problem as far as I can see is that we are far too open in midfield, which is partly a consequence of selling Caicedo and replacing him with a player that RDZ doesn't consider ready. Gilmour and Gross are fine players but we need more there.

Why is he so stubborn? I don’t get it. To me it looks like he’s putting his ego before the club. Schoolyard defending, away in Europe, first leg, with so many injured players, so naive. Roma totally different, rolling around, wasting time ”when needed”, not pretty but effective. So dissapointed tonight.

Agree. I hope TB and RDZ both know what is going to happen and they can sort this out one way or another. My preference despite my frustrations is that RDZ stayed. Best manager we've ever had. Helps with Moises and Ali Mac in centre midfield mind.

Steele was hardly the problem tonight.
I’m more concerned about how he never seems to learn any lessons from previous defensive shit shows but not only that, we’re totally impotent going forward. He’s looking naive and outcoached in most games recently.
I don’t want him sacked but the hyperbole around him is ridiculous and he has got a lot of hard work to do to justify the reputation he has IMO.

I agree - we had a world class CM last season and certainly don’t anymore. RDZ was lucky to inherit that and made the most of it whilst talking them out of the club.
And yet, Gilmour and Gross are both feted on here so what it is? Personally I don’t think Gilmour is anywhere near good enough at the top level - he looked like a little boy out there tonight - but I usually get pelters for that opinion.
But it still doesn’t explain why we are so poor defensively and lack any real threat going forward. We’ve gone backwards as a team overall this season and I think RDZ has looked limited at times.
