Pick a lane, FFS Lenny! :lolol:
I’m torn old love, long before she went into Love Island Amy was a card holding Labour Member since the age of 16, and a Union Activist at BA. She remains the only Lover Islander to ever appear on Question Time and address various meetings at Party conferences.

Prior to the arrival of my Grandson last year, she’d been asked to be the Labour Candidate for one of the Worthing seats, something she still would like to pursue further down the road.

BUT.

I consider Sir Peter Bottomley a friend, the way he conducted himself in the wake of the Shoreham air crash with the relatives etc, showed the measure of the man, a number of people on here probably disagree with his political stance, but if they actually got to know him, they would see he’s an all round good egg.

So come GE night, my cross still has to go with personal experience, he still remains the right man to represent the people of Worthing.

That said maybe Kier Starmer will be a good fit for the whole country?

That's all lovely, but what's any of it got to Galloway winning Rochdale and asking 'Is this Labour showing their first sign of weakness or chinks in the armour?' and then predicting that Labour would win the seat at a GE 'by some margin'?

The arse end of Hangleton
Which one? There were three Independents standing. William Howarth, Mark Coleman and Michael Howarth. They just about managed 1000 votes collectively.
David Tully - came second with over 6000 votes

Don't agree with him on quite a few things but good to have a strong voice in Parliament against the ongoing horrors Israel are currently inflicting.
The problem is whatever Labour or the Tories do Galloway will try and exploit it.

Populists exist on the far left too. Like Farage he is toxic and divisive, our country does not need this.

Galloway has spent the last few years actively shilling for Putin is a regular on RT, is as anti Ukraine as Trump and for an alleged left winger is very cosy with and complimentary of Farage.

Galloway has some very extremist views and is out for himself.

He is a massive genocidal fascist apologist and Putin arse licker.

I very much hope he'll be a 6 month wonder, its a mid term protest vote and Labour will regain this seat from this extremist at the GE.

I can only assume that a thread has been started by someone I have on ignore. Fancy that.

So the Daily Mail have got Galloway back into parliament as the MP for Gaza.

By storing and releasing candidate credibility-ending pro Gaza cant from the Labour candidate till it was too late for labour to change him

As a result Parliament gets the catnip MP who is attracting the support of all the Gaza-obsessed antisemites (who 'obviously' aren't antisemitic). Endorsed by antisemites previously thrown out of the Labour party. And Nick Griffin, the BNP oaf whose career was destroyed when he was held up to scrutiny on question time.

If this has done anything it has put a clear red line between Starmer's labour and all the disaffected fools who still think the invasion of Israel by Hamas, the beheadings of babies and the torture has absolutely nothing to do with the opportunity given to Bibi to smite the Palestinians, and the undoubtedly dreadful massacre of Palestinians.

Galloway is pro-Putin. He is pro-Iran. He won't share a platform with a Jew. I can understand (though deplore) 40% of Rochdale's working class (perhaps gullble, perhaps uneducated) Muslim voters voting Galloway. I condemn non-Muslim 'educated' voters of the so-called left voting for him.

There had to be strange circumstances for this to be the outcome of a FPTP bi-election. One of the arguments in favour of PR is that when an extremist is elected this apparently reveals to the nation how dangerous and foolish they are. We shall see. A Jewish Brit on R5 now thinks this will open the door to the election of more 'jew-haters', and thinks 'we are now finished in the UK'.

Anyway, thanks, Daily Mail. Always putting Britain First

It’s a real possibility he’ll get himself into hot water.

It’s one thing to be floating about on the fringes, meeting toxic world leaders when the media has zero appetite for his comings and goings.

He’ll be in the spotlight now and he’ll either get exposed compromising himself with some outlawed figure or get caught shagging a cat or something.

I remember even Murdoch kicked him off Talk Radio when somehow managed to turn Liverpool's Champions League win over Spurs into an anti-semite slur. Pure opportunist...

in his post-Labour career, he's never been re-elected and loses half the votes at the next election.

Understand your point however it's not a time to be polite or understated. He will hopefully speak in strong terms against the genocide happening as we speak.

Will it make much of a difference? Probably not but it's a voice in Parliament at least.

There's some merit in this.

In a sort of opposite way round I found the idea of Corbyn running the country in 2019 scary (and Johnson just as bad before anyone pipes up) but, while I don't know Peter Kyle personally he has taken the time to talk to me and our family in the past, is an excellent local MP who has assisted several friends and sort of the opposite of a Corbynista, so he got my vote on that basis. I'd always advocate for a good local MP first and foremost. There are too few. This current crop of modern Tories are only in it for themselves, parachuted in Momentum candidates just as bad and, worse of all, to come back to the thread, a Fedora wearing ego-manic who won Rochdale "for Gaza"

Chris Williamson, his party leader, has just been on Today refusing to condemn the 7 October attacks and refusing to distance himself from Nick Griffin. The far left are just as dangerous as the far right. This lot are as bad, mad and divisive as Reform.
Williamson is a very dangerous anti-Semite who was rightly kicked out of the Labour Party. Scary that he used to be one of their MPs

The 'Independent' candidate also polled pretty well - who was that, and what platform were they standing on?
