Another Northern born ref booking the shite out of us again and letting Everton off with everything. Interesting reffing all afternoon. Apparently you can boot the ball into the crowd after an offside call and escape a booking by maintaining you didn’t see the flag or hear the whistle.

I think Gilmour’s and Maguire’s are both right slap bang in the grey areas that football struggles to accept exist in the rules and the speed of play.
They are both subjective calls and slow-mo doesn’t help convey the context, intent and force.
I don’t have too many complaints as Gilmour’s foot is high, accidentally or not you have a responsibility to your opponent not to have any height or studs showing in your tackle / contact.

I don't like the argument that we would be screaming for it.
In general I scream for every 50/50 so it's a fairly pointless argument.
In this case, I understand why it's been given, but totally agree with Dunk's opinion on this.
I understand it and don't understand it in equal measure.

Where else is his foot supposed to go?
It's a real letter of the law decision.

Agreed, whether or not he meant to do it - that outcome is the result of him going into the 50/50 in a somewhat wild fashion. A level of aggression is expected but he went a little too far, unfortunately.

That isn't going to happen.
Billy's only error was his heavy first touch, giving him no option than contest a 50/50, whilst we were chasing the game.
Dahoud's was an unnecessary aggressive challenge, when we were winning
Harrys do get different treatment . . . . Mags looked almost deliberate. . . WBG played the ball, not tha man
It's all interpretation and the bottom line is did the challenge endanger a player.

By the rules, yes... but we have seen many worse get a yellow card . Harsh decision by inconsistent ref.

Plenty of those go unpunished by the ref, giving a yellow and leaving it up to VAR.
And then the pundits would have been divided about whether Yellow was the right decision or not.
Compare that to last week's ref giving a yellow, for the assault on Mitoma, it is a bit laughable.
Plant, hit…..it was dangerous to do what Gilmour did and therefore it’s a red. Thats all there is to it
