West is BEST
I think Loughton losing is more likely than Bottomley, It would be a big shock for the Tories to lose both of those seats. My prediction is that they'll cling on to West but lose East. I think the demographic shift in that neck of the woods has affected East more than West, with the West seat including areas like Ferring and East Preston which remain staunchly conservative. Tbh, despite never having any desire to vote Tory, I don't mind Peter Bottomley. Have dealt with Tim Loughton for work things in the past and found him utterly repulsive.

Would be fantastic to see Loughton out. He’s the driving force behind a lot of the destructive new developments in the area.

That won’t stop now but I’d like to see the smirk wiped off his smug mooey.

Sir Peter was superb in the wake of the Shoreham Air Crash, the way he cared for some of the families.

The SNP currently crying foul because it was definitely all about Gaza and not about scoring cheap political points. Definitely.

Keeping policies all blurry round the edges, getting the right wing press onside, happy to bin popular Labour ideals and the use of folk such as Pat McFadden & Morgan McSweeney.

How is he different?

Honestly haven’t really thought about it.

I guess he doesn’t invite gobshite Brit pop stars over to his drum for tea and toast. That’s something, right?

In what ways do you see Starmer as Blair-like?
Because he’s electable would be my first thought… not too many Labour leaders have been electable.

I also think that Blair is in very close communication with both Sue Gray and SKS, there are Blair allies working within the structure of the shadow government office and a few from the institute looking likely for jobs or even seats. I think a Starmer Government will ‘operate’ like a Blair Government even if the two themselves are not that similar.

They are both interested in the Labour Party both attaining and retaining power.

Everything SKS has done so far has been about success over substance and I imagine that the second he is through the door - everything will be about securing a second term.

But still far far better than the openly lying, corrupt, venal, self serving totally incompetent lot that we have at the moment, I'm sure you'd agree

I can see very little similarities between the two Blair’s a populist who believes that a free market should fund and operate within state run institutions while Starmer is a deep rooted man believing in the state and its institutions after all he has only ever worked for the state on behalf of the state.

Absolutely agree that he will be better- he’s got my vote as I have told you repeatedly… just so long as he doesn’t waste his whole term on revisiting the Europe saga!!

The member for Islington North chipped in during today’s debate - He’s seeking a unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel 😳

He's a Labour leader that is going to win an election.

As much as the proper Left in this country don't like it, a Starmer / Blair type figure is the only feasible way for Labour to get in power.

Rejoice!

At least one UK parliamentary bill demanding a ceasefire or pause in Israel's actions in Gaza is about to be passed.

We can then all let out a sigh of relief that the hostilities will immediately cease.

Heartwarming!
