It's ridiculous to have any complaints about the red at all, his studs end up in Mitoma's thigh! I think the only thing Sheffield could maybe be frustrated by was the disallowed goal. Under the current rules it's probably correctly disallowed, but VAR and Atwell made a right pig's ear of the whole thing and it took bloody forever to reach a decision

But they did get the correct decision.

We probably should have had a penalty - I wonder if Wilder's upset about that. Maybe if we'd got it, they'd have saved it and that would have given them the spark to go on and win the game.

If we'd got it, then by rights, their player should have been sent off as he made no attempt to play the ball. So they would have been down to nine.

I don't know if it has to be as black and white as that - maybe he didn't intend to run in to the back of Mitoma, but it was clumsy and he left himself nowhere to go.

Doesn't that only apply if the defender is also the last man and it's a denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity.

In this case Sheffield United also had 2 or 3 players in and around the 6 yard box, their captain could certainly have been considered to be in a position to block any shot, so I'm not sure it would be a clear denial of a goal scoring opportunity if the penalty was given.

He didn't just run into his back. He pushed him over, with both hands
Yeah I know, but if you were bumping into the back of someone in the street you'd put your hands up to stop yourself tripping over them. I don't think it had to be a red card.
