Indeed, City didn’t bid so how did he turn down City. Blue & white specs on for some.
Point missed. He *might have chosen us over them for reasons previously expressed. We only bid to offer Boca and alternative to him triggering the release clause

Anyway, purely one possible example of why our approach may not be entirely screwed by other clubs trying to copy it.

On Barco, it was reported Blue Co did make contact with his people, but they wanted him to sign for Strasbourg rather than Chelsea, which he wasn't keen.

This is incredible short-termism on Baleba. Bissouma cost a similar amount and was very rough around the edges to begin with. By the time he had been smoothed out he looked a top 4 player and we made a tidy profit on him.

Give Carlos time, he's clearly got masses of potential and is still incredibly young.
Baleba cost £23.2m Biss was between £12-15m. Quite a difference there making Baleba our second highest purchase in the history of the club.
We made a poor return on Biss IMO.

Jewell is obviously an important part of what we do but the club has always had succession planning. He won’t be walking out the door and there will be no one. Just isn’t how bloom and barber work. If they say they won’t stand in his way then they already have a plan in mind. If they didn’t or were concerned Jewell would be on garden leave like we did with Ashworth until we get our house back in order first.

As for Chelsea seems like Bohley thought I know let’s take the manager. Potter came in and went well I’m not the brain I’m just the coach go get Winstanley he knows what is going on. In comes Winstanley and 18 months later and numerous transfer messes he’s gone to Winstanley who said well I’ll be honest Todd I’m not the brains as such but Sam might be able to fill in some gaps. In another years time Todd will come back for Barber and Bloom and ask them just to take over Chelsea and do it all for him.

Why didn’t Chelsea keep Bruno then and promote him upstairs if the only qualification you need is to speak Spanish. There is a reason why Jewel is being head hunted and I don’t think it’s for his bi lingual skills.
Of course there is more to being successful in recruitment than just being bilingual. However Chelsea didn't keep Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne. The fact they didn't keep Bruno means nothing. For what it's worth I think Bruno would be exactly the sort of person we'd be considering (perhaps not as head of recruitment yet). Just my opinion and I know nothing about the circumstances around his departure, but would be very surprised if Bloom/Barber won't consider him returning because he decided to leave after 10 years at the club.

No we didn't. We had a few good seasons out of him then sold him for a profit before he could let his contract run down. Get real.
A £10m profit for a top 4 player isn’t that great is it? Dan Burn had a better return rate. I didn’t think the Trossard fee was superb either. All about opinions

I’ve heard Chelsea are keen on relocating to the south coast and want to play in blue & white stripes.

What experience does Bruno have on negotiating transfers? Surely we can’t keep employing ex players for sake of it.

We seemingly managed to keep Jewell when Rangers came knocking a while back.
I think he’ll go to Chelsea as they plan to buy an Argentinian feeder team and I can see a nice, well paid role for him there, trying to harvest that opportunity.
We’ll have a plan in place and we aren’t standing in his way.
However, what of the reported interest from Man United/ Ashworth?
What is key is that we have the Bloom database and structure in place which is not people reliant ( apart from Tony of course and he must hope that his son can take over at some point).
Long live the Albion!!

Seems to me that Winstanley will have had point in time knowledge of our recruitment targets when he left, we then saw the likes of Datro Fofana being targeted etc. … now of course his knowledge is 18 months out of date… so as they cant get the data they target an employee who will have had access to it. watch out for Jewell’s replacement being targeted in 18-24 months time 🙄

Yes agreed we shouldn't employ ex-players for the sake of it, but ex-players with intelligence and a good footballing brain can be valuable assets - eg Crofts, Dicker, Greer, Calderon. I'd be all for players like Gross and Veltman having roles at the club in the future when they've stopped playing if there's a need/vacancy as I think they'd add value to the club. Yes this doesn't address the question of who'd replace Jewell if he's leaving, and agreed Bruno isn't ready to head recruitment yet and doesn't have the experience (and maybe he has no wish to do this). My opinion is that he probably has the qualities necessary, and succession planning and all that ....
