They got some critical acclaim but have mostly been ignored. Most people have never heard of them.

" The Bridges of Madison County". Fabulous acting from Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood. Emotional tearjerker with a heartbreaking ending. Icing on the cake is the wonderful jazz soundtrack. Probably not suitable for you hairy-assed supporters though.

Worthing
Magnolia (2000). It covers everything and more, including raining frogs. Plus one of the best casts I’ve seen.

One could also guage it upon Oscar nominations and whether my Dad has heard of it.
Leave No Trace bats 0/2 there.
Somewhere in Time got 1 nomination for costume design, August Rush none

Films not in the top 250 of all time imdb ratings is a good source of material. ET The Extraterrestirial and Close Encounters of the Third kind both not in the top 250, staggering

Multiple entries above, so in that light.

Taken
Munich
American Sniper
The Bourne Identity
Goodbye, Mr Chips
Wuthering Heights (with Olivier & Oberon)

[Taken & Bourne have public appeal, but film snobs don’t get it].

Huh? All massive hits, highly regarded, and still enjoyed by people to this day.

Taken and Bourne generally regarded as well crafted thrillers with mass appeal.

Bourne especially was largely liked by critics.
