You could stop all the weeds in Brighton by nuking the city , works but not necessarily a good way to do it.To inform the NSC residents of B & H that maybe we might see and end to the weeds at last

Apols for my rudeness. Sounds like that was the beginning of the group if you were asked to join a committee and write terms, fair enough, it's up and running ok now. As for the rest, it sounds like you weren't wanting to commit /couldn't be arsed (which is your perogative). I've helped tidy Lewes Rd, Ditchling Rd, 7 Dials, Whitehawk Hill, Preston Circus, the flytip site by the allotments behind the cemetry (twice! Won't be doing it again after tweeking my back and since it just reappears because the council don't fence it off) and Pavilion Gardens behind the cafe numerous times (again, won't be doing it again because the street bums use it as a toilet, fill it with rubbish again within a week and leave knives and bolt cutters in there and I'm sick of working in such a skanky area). I've also done solo picks (which are encouraged) but fed up with negative comments by the public "you should leave that to the council", "what crime have you done", "you're wasting your time" blah blah blah. The fact is, the general public doesn't like paying tax.... but then is surprised that the council budget doesn't stretch much to such things as weeding, fly picking, graffiti and litterpicking. People moan but do feck all themselves, is the crux of the matter. "Leave it, someone else will do it". Well, actually, leave it and it will stay as it is. Those council workers who try v hard to do a good job are over run because the public drops shit everywhere and refuses to tidy up the patch by their own home/business. As for the OP, I would agree with a balance of weed killers, paid manual workers, volunteers and general public but this is unlikely.
Many local authorities especially Germany burn the weeds off , although not entirely effective on perennial weeds with tap roots it’s considered more environmentally friendly
