I'm not sure it would suit all parties.

He'll want to be in the 1st choice CB pairing (I assume - he's playing every game now, albeit at LB).

Who makes way - Dunk or JPvH?

With Igor as first reserve and also Webby back fit, would we want to rock the squad boat by bringing him in? (Webster could be sold I guess). Still young of course, so the player potential and resale values are both high.

There is also the age old WAGES issue after his new deal at Chelsea. This, and the transfer fee with them needing their academy sales to ease FFP problems as much as possible (other than Colwill I think it's only Maatsen, Gallagher and James left who would attract a reasonable fee).

I have no doubt that signing him would improve the depth of our squad, but the knock-on effects could reduce the benefit?

Big fee and big wages for a player we are not desperate for...?

Not for me, Clive.

Obvs, if RdZ knows the squad would welcome him (and the competition for places he'd bring) with open arms, then I'm all in! 😄
Agree with all of this.

I really liked him here. But the key point is that he would be far from guaranteed a start with us now. I'm not even sure he would be above Igor in the pecking order let alone Van Hecke.

If we're going to spend, let's be realistic £30 to £40m plus £100 to £150k p/w, this should be for a 100% improves our first XI player. I'm not sure Levi does

Good to know who's gonna be the ex, NSC has it's by-annual circle jerk about, for the next 10 years.

Not so sure wages are as big an issue for him. Remember they were waving that 8 year contract in his face for weeks but he was stalling to see if we could meet an asking price for him. I think he’d take a slight cut to join us

He’ll get right in the team the minute our next injury comes along, which unfortunately may not be long a wait these days.

He loves us, we loved him, great guy. And that miserable shitheap full of dickheads in West London he currently sadly calls home is a total basket case run by lunatics. It’s hardly an implausible suggestion.

he would be welcomed back by all, but adds another problem to resolve....

Dunky is better/effective when playing Left side - i.e. when with JPvH or Webster

Dunky is quality, but he then has to play Right side CB with Igor and Colwill and is not so effective

He played well alongside Levi last season

The guy is so overrated. Barely played last season and when he did he was good but probably because he had dunk next to him. Fair play to de zerbi for bigging him up as he's made the lad a lot of money.

I'm glad we didn't break the bank for him. Would have been very risky.

Levi failing at Chelsea is yet another fantastic advert for BHAFC being the place to be for young players.

I feel sorry for him. He wanted to come here.

Instead, van Hecke has taken his place here to develop into a world class defender.

If he managed to come here, he would be well on his way to developing into a top player, possibly even be regarded as one of the worlds best defenders by now.

Instead he's just lost a crucial season of development at that chaotic joke of a club.

It's not too late to come back - there's still place in the squad for him here. Definitely worth enquiring, but we won't be paying him £100k/week.

Colwill reminds me of the Tomori situation, you could see their quality when we had them on loan but as with Tomori I reckon Colwill needs to move on from Chelsea to establish himself somewhere. I like both players but I couldn't see either signing for us now as we have just as good i not better players.

For once, have agreement with you to an extent, I would have liked him to stay, but he was and is a player to develop, and £40M seemed about twice as much as should have been his value at the time, looks worse still now. JPVH stepping up has made it work out really well for Albion.

Rdz loves colwill. I think he'd quite happily swap Webster for colwill in our squad. That would give him 2 left footed centre backs and 2 right footed.

With the number of injuries/suspensions/games we play there's plenty of playing time available.

We've also used 3 at the back and Igor at lb so I don't see any issues with game time.

The obvious and dull caveat is wages as it always is but if it were doable id be all for it. An added bonus would be getting him for a knock down price from Chelsea and then them losing their shit(again) when he goes back to being a top quality player and England regular.
This. RDZ still talks about him today, if we had a chance to sign him for a not unrealistic sum we would and he would be a first choice player for us. He's class, just at the wrong, on many levels, club.

I'm afraid I was never that impressed with him, though I can't deny that we had more clean sheets with him in the side. May or may not be coincidental.

Colwill’s athletic frame and aura (as the kids on Twitter call it) disguises that he’s actually not very quick. JPVH is quicker I’d say.
