Where did you read that, as all of the away ticket info links I've seen have stated in red:
"Points allocated for this fixture*: **
*will be credited 7 days after the match based on attendance data from the away club"
In any event, and as others have said, if Stoke were included , the Luton Tier 1 would merely be 15 more.

It would probably be 12-14 more.
I know a lot of people who are in top tier and go to most games who didn't go. Obviously most of the top 1000 will have gone.
There's no solution to this but it just shows that when points are added and when games go on sale can be really impactful on those who fall on the borders.

At the very least stagger these sale dates by a few days just to relieve the pressure a bit. Three at the same time is unnecessary

Thanks but that needs updating, as very clear on each away game on the ticket buying page that's its 7 days now.
And that impact is not real. If they added the points they'd raise the tier points. Yes a few who didn't go may drop below but a very small number.

Snap again....but I'm on 379 and my mate is on 380! Was at train station and turned round when none going in to London from Kent. Tough but fair.Snap! Gutted especially after not being able to go through the turnstiles at West Ham! That would have done it for me
Can’t believe these sales have been delayed until I’m away and relying on a Starlink connection! I guess it’s karma for my Ajax good luck.
Fingers crossed I’ll get what I want, but being tier 2 for all three games, I’m not overly hopeful. Not that I ever expected to get Luton tickets anyway.

There are also engineering works between KX and Doncaster and on part of the East Midlands line. The only train that will get you there is the 9.30 from St Pancras that goes via Luton, Wellingborough and half the country, and will also be full of anyone needing to get to Donny or Leeds.
We looked at it and you'd basically be on a bus at 6am, home at midnight and missing the game completely if the 9.30 gets cancelled or delayed.
Seagull Travel also don't have any of these three games available to book

What do you mean not real?
If you're a handful of points off, when they choose to put the on-sale date, and whether it includes a recent game you may or may not have attended, is going to have a massive difference for those people. Obviously this can do some people some favours as well.
Simple they would have worked out the tiers last week, after West Ham, therefore we all knew, as indicated by the tickets page, the points for the cup game would not come into play so it's irrelevant.

For what it's worth I agree with you. I don't think it's a good thing to restrict hope in Tier 2, even though it would personally benefit me if the Albion did so

If I have this right (and I may very well not!) what this means is that a bigger T2 points wise is inevitable for smaller allocations such as Luton, Brentford, Bournemouth and AEK even, because:
1) People who will normally be in T1 are thrown into T2 by the low allocation but
2) The bottom of T2 is always determined by a fixed percentage and
3) Many in T2 on that basis will have quite a lot of points but the cut off at the bottom won't change much.
Am I a dunce?

But we don't all know that do we? Because we have no as accurate idea when the games are going on sale.
As I've said above if this game had gone on sale last week with West Ham points not allocated (I didn't go), I reckon I'd have got into the top tier. If it went on sale next week there's a small chance I might have snuck in with Stoke points against those who are in the top tier but didn't. I couldn't do West Ham and Stoke for money reasons so picked one - Stoke (which on paper seemed the trickier and less glamorous!) . If I had known in advance that Luton tickets would definitely go on sale this week and that points from West Ham would count but points from Stoke wouldn't, then maybe I'd have swapped this round and I'd be going to Luton.
I'm not saying there's an easy solution to this and I get that the club has to be flexible with on sale dates but it's definitely not irrelevant.

Given the entire purpose of the comment was to illustrate how different on sale dates can affect people's tiers, isn't that exactly how it should be worded.
But ok, if it had gone on sale last week I DEFINITELY would have been in the top tier. And if I'd have known that by sacrificing West Ham and going to Stoke would mean missing out on Luton, I DEFINITELY would have gone to West Ham instead. That better?
But then they may have set the points higher as they would have had more, like you, meeting the cut off.
They would have known prior to the West Ham game how many fans that had bought tickets and would be in tier one (less no shows at West Ham) but only after sales had stopped. Therefore if you and others jumped in to buy West Ham tickets when they were available the likelihood is the tier 1 points would be higher and you'd still miss out.
