Of course I have - it depends on the context - and in the Spanish context it is possible that a fascist party could form part of the next Spanish government (just like there is a far-right party leading the Italian government at the moment) and the Vox party are intent on attacking women's rights and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.

On the upside - Rubiales is gone - hopefully the prosecutors continue their criminal investigation and bring him to trial.
3 million Spaniards voted this summer for a party that campaigned to do away with gender violence laws, block access to abortion and repeal the "only yes means yes" law.
Mentioning this doesn't divert responsibiliy from Rubiales.

I understand but that's exactly what populists parties do. Meanwhile institutions who should know better allow similar and much worse to happen but brush it under the carpet.
Simplistically the right can't see what the problem is and left don't want you to know. As for the Church.....
It's all about men getting away with it or thinking they can get away with it. That's where Spain needs to catch up.

I'd like to see some people on the right stepping forward and owning the condemnation of this entitled Spanish arsehole.

I consider myself right wing, never voted Labour and probably never will (though didn't vote Tory last time either).
And I utterly condemn the actions of that moron Rubiales. As been said many times, it's not just that one 3 second kiss, but that was symptomatic of a culture that belongs in the history books and a new culture of inclusion and acceptance needs to be dragged into existence.
Yes it's a far right issue in Spain now, but then again the far left is as bad.

Him eventually ‘resigning’ must not be the end of it though. He needs to understand and pay for what he did. I honestly don’t think he believes he’s done anything wrong. The fact that in the early stages, the Spanish FA were intending to take action against Hermoso, shows how muchthere is wrong with the culture in Spain towards women.

Too simplistic, just like these Right-Left labels. I see no clear distinction between what I think I understand by your use of left and right here. They’re both deeply dissatisfied by authority as it’s currently behaving, and elements of both sides seemed quite excited by both the Spain football / gender politics issue and the escape from Wandsworth, for instance. I’m sure most people here have heard of the Horseshoe Theory of politics. It explains a lot.
In the culture of certain institutions and within certain groups. It's unfair to tarnish the whole country with that brush that though.
Overall, Spain is a world leader when it comes to gender equality. Unfortunately, there are segments of society that want to overturn the rapid progress that has been made over the past 20 years or so.

I very much doubt that many people want to "overturn progress" (which you rightly describe as rapid) but there’s no doubt that some older people in particular (of both genders, incidentally) are finding it harder to get with the programme after 40, 50, 60 years of living in a different universe. Ironically enough, a bit more tolerance and understanding and 'kindness' towards them wouldn’t go amiss.
Well, there are the 3 million Vox voters for a start.

I was very disappointed that people chose to make it a left v right issue, or any kind of political issue at all. What the bloke did was bloody stupid, whether he meant any harm or to offend is irrelevant, you do not behave like that in this day and age. What also annoys is the speed at which third parties chose to condemn, and the volume of the co-ordinated ’I am offended on her behalf’ protests. Seems it is just the way of the world today. Journos and commentators pushing their own careers and agendas above actually making any attempt to highlight issues for others to discuss. You perhaps also fall into this category, wanting to score morality points over others by questioning their motives.
I was genuinely interested in your thinking. I am disappointed you think I am on a quest to score morality points. My life is a little more exciting than that. And I'm not sure that my own morality stands up to forensic scrutiny, so glass houses and all that.
Perhaps you might consider whether people might have a point when they posit a narrative, rather than condemn them for even floating a notion. Certainly a public figure in the UK behaving like that coach wouldn't last five minutes. Not even Johnson said 'no, no, no' when his own MPs told him to step down. The point is that Spain is demonstrably very different in its social attitudes to the UK, and the present case has put this is sharp relief. @Jolly Red Giant is not being unreasonable to posit why. He is a historian and has some insights (even if I strongly dispute his narrative on occasion).
