Its the average of the total pay check. This includes basic plus commission

I don’t understand the questions. What he earns is paid to him via his salary, as PAYE. Anyone who earns commission and has is in employment EARN their SALARY and by default, as commission changes each month then their earning, salary, pay, wage or whatever you care to call it are variable.
