I’ve been told there’s a lot of chat in Luton that they are in for a loan from us . An unnamed striker, but the deal won’t be sanctioned this end until our deals/ other outgoings are confirmed. Going to be a late deal if it comes off.
A fairly reliable sauce, apparently.

I would think this concerns Zeqiri.

I would have said Zeqiri if there was any truth in it.

If he is going to initially feature for the Devolopment Squad, how long is his loan going to be for? It must be with an option to sign him permanantly.

They would only let Zeqiri out if Andone was close to fitness I'd say

Still hoping for the odd outgoing loan or two. Sanders in particular needs some game time - sitting in the first team squad and not playing, and not playing for the U23s either. Personally I'd like to see Connolly go out for a loan - not because he isn't good enough, but he's only getting a few minutes game time now and again; he was a goal machine in the U23s - I think it would be good for him to go out for a few months and be a goal machine again. Don't think that'll happen though.

I don't want to diss the lad before he has even joined us, but I suspect that we are a little short of numbers in the U23s right now. If he is going to be released by Chelsea in the summer and isn't getting a game. He has the opportunity to see if he can impress at another top club or at least get better exposure by playing.

We have bought in players before on this basis, from Reading if I recall.

Makes sense I suppose. The strength of our U23s is way down from last season - very young, I think. I know results aren't as all important at that level as it is for the 1st. team - it's about development as well - but we still don't want to risk relegation.

I think it is more that there is a gap in the squad now that young Crofty has taken off his boots and picked up the clipboard.

A loan signing? For the u23? Why?

Because we are a little short in that area in the U-23s and we get an opportunity to, effectively, give a player a six-month trial (he is out of contract at Chelsea at the end of June).

Unfortunately there is little sign of Kipras Kazukolovas returning to action, and Haydon Roberts is out on loan. In recent weeks we have had Jensen Weir play at centre-back a couple of times, and Sam Packham (neither of whom are recognised specialist centre-backs).

We have done this before - Harry Cardwell (who had a great cup run with Chorley this season) joined us on loan from Reading 5 years ago.

Adam Armstrong being linked to us for 25 million !! in the papers today

Also in The Sun apparently. This is what the BBC football site has to say:

West Ham and Fulham lead the race to sign Blackburn Rovers' 24-year-old English striker Adam Armstrong, who has been valued at £25m, but the two London clubs face competition from Brighton and Everton. (Sun)
