If you really feel the need to trawl through local media across the country hunting for bad news (#tragic) can you at least find stories where the company specifically states Brexit as the reason they are closing the factory.

It’s ****ing tedious isn’t it, I think I’m going to start posting random recipes & links to ornithology on this thread!

Be patient and I'm afraid there'll be plenty that will. A more general issue is that if

1. Brexit results in a loss of economic growth (a bit like a slow puncture) then

2. There will be jobs lost which don't appear to be directly caused by Brexit but will be. (Just as if in the case of Brexit stimulating economic growth, it would 'invisibly' be creating jobs. But I think we all know which of the 2 scenarios is more likely.)

Yeah would have happened anyway...

Think you need to do a bit of reading up on how Brexit is f@@king over the UK chemicals industry. Yet more red tape, we will all pay more...

We had years of record employment and record low unemployment before covid hit yet Nicko and his not so merry band continually posted anything vaguely negative they could find. Sadly I think they actually enjoy what they do ... people with very empty lives.

I wish you good luck enticing them out of the bunker of misery though [emoji106]

With a bit of luck, we're going to the Dordogne in August. Normally when we go there, I have a day trip to Bordeaux and buy 10 or so cases of wine to bring back. Not possible any more, because the UK (not France, note) have imposed a restriction of 2 cases.
Isn't Brexit wonderful?

Or you could post brexit good news articles. Something on topic, that thing you seem keen to avoid.

It is bizarre isn't it, we've been in Brexit land for 9 whole days and waiting to see the what all the fuss was about? I was expecting thread after thread of all these new things that have changed peoples lives, rules that don't need to be followed anymore, and the new freedoms bestowed upon us.

Please, please will someone fill us in....?

I don't fully understand why Brexiters always try to close down debate about Brexit on a Brexit thread!

Instead they deflect and trivialise with embarrassingly silly posts.

Wouldn't it be better to celebrate the tangible dividends of Brexit? (Please - not the intangible old sovereignty thing). I am sure there are some. I can't seem to see them but there must be some somewhere.

I think the UK imposed limit is 18 l per person, so that is 24 bottles per person, not brilliant, but not an absolute disaster.. As I read it you can come back with quite a bit of beer too. Its not as good as it was, but, not a total disaster.....just.

I find it laughable the complaints of negative press articles when Brexit was built on a tirade of negative press, how the worm has turned

Probably fixtures but I really feel sorry for this old boy. A Brexiteer convinced by the leave lies and propaganda about the benefits to his firm. Now he has sadly realised that Brexit will probably cost him his business. Poor old chap.

Reassuring that you feel so sorry for his plight that you post a video of his chagrin.

Since the 'deal' was signed two weeks ago and it actually started to become blindingly apparent what people actually voted for, (even if the government still don't fully understand what they negotiated) the attempts to pull this thread off topic have become increasingly desperate.

So back on topic

Consumers warned they will bear the cost of Brexit border delays

Traders have been told to expect ‘significant disruption’ in the coming weeks as trade activity ramps up. Consumers will bear the cost of the trouble facing traders following the imposition of Brexit red tape, a senior retail chief has warned. Lord Rose, chairman of supermarket delivery company Ocado, said the delays and difficulties in international shipping caused by added paperwork meant the “cost will be passed on to the consumer”.

The trouble already experienced following the end of the transition period with the European Union on December 31 has led to major parcel courier DPD pausing some delivery services into Europe, including Ireland.

And, in order to make sure anything posted on here is balanced, I am also posting every Brexit good news story I find as it seems the couple of remaining Brexit supporters on this thread can't be arsed to find the Brexit good news and post it

The good news is you'll eventually bore the pants off anyone bothered to reply to your hard luck stories and you'll end up talking to yourself or your informed friend :dunce:
Does your wife own a pair of ear defenders by any chance ?

I know a few people who have realised their idea of what was happening isn’t reality. I feel for them, but nothing in politics is ever written in stone. I can see us gradually realigning over a few years, especially on trade.
