That is why I ask why they voted that way!? How is that bad? Am I supposed to just ignore it?

Gwylan has said it was related to his opposition to the CAP

Westdene Seagull broadly says he is not keen on a centralisation of power and a sense of creeping federalism.

Gods country fortnightly
I voted for Brexit and don't regret my vote.

What I hadn't anticipated was that our PM would be Boris who would go on to make such a complete **** up of the negotiations during the transition period. For that reason i would support a 12 month extension of the transition period in the hope that Boris gets turfed out (or drinks himself to oblivion) so that we can sit down with the EU and negotiate a deal that suits all parties.

Johnson (that's his name) has lied in throughout his personal, professional and political life. In the end if catches up with you.

Yup. I was a regular contributor to the Brexit thread for a year or so (maybe longer ?). I made the arguments and answered all questions extremely politely and reasonably. Unfortunately there are a number of Remain posters ( by no means all) who responded with patronizing elitism or outright abuse. The attitude was that anyone who voted leave was stupid and did not understand the issues. I stopped contributing to the Brexit thread. Some people just will not listen. Several of them have contributed to this thread. They expect people to keep answering the same questions and the moment you don’t repeat the answer for the umpteenth time the accusations of stupidity and avoidance get made. Not for me.

Ditto ....... and well said.

If it's any consolation I've always found you to be articulate, adult and reasoned in your position. It's not a view I share but we might also not agreee who we would vote for as the World's Hardest Creature on NSC either. However as a democratic society we should be able to agree to disagree and still get on fine.

As a genuine question I have not had answered without being called a snowflake and to get over it, what is the thinking behind wanting to stop people from the uk having the right to live, work, and study in the EU? How is removing that an improvement?

People can still do all those things

I don’t think you are a snowflake. I am probably more of one if it means disliking aggressiveness and insults. I am quite happy to admit being offended by these traits and by discrimination of any kind. I was once told on here I come across like a social worker which I took as a compliment although it wasn’t meant that way
To answer your question; one argument for removing the right to do those things is to reduce the flow of unskilled workers from poorer Southern European countries to the richer nations such as Germany and the UK. This in turn will stop the downward pressure on wages of the lower skilled in the richer countries and have consequent positive social effects.

Although I don't have a dog in the fight on this thread (as a remainer) I'd be inclined to agree with whoever posted that it is far too soon to ask for a view on this among leavers. We don't leave till January. It would be of interest to check views again this time next year.

I'd also be interested to see how many folk who voted remain have switched view. I recall posts on here saying 'I voted remain but the nation voted leave so we must leave, come what may, deal or no deal'. It will be interesting to read their take this time next year, too.

If that were true, then we need to start looking for a better alternative to democracy.

But yes, I do believe that we will have decent governments again, just as we have in the past. Why wouldn't we?

You had fairly good government before but Boris kicked out all the good ones and filled it with yes men

The next decent government will rejoin the EU. its already lib dem policy

Left wing pro-Brexit here.

Still pro-Brexit. Don't think things have necessarily gone worse than expected given the government we have.

Still have absolute faith that even this government will take advantage of new opportunities - but the benefits will be truly apparent in a decade and decades to come, once more competent governments have had a go, particularly the red side.

Really interesting to read. Didn’t think it was possible to be left wing & pro-brexit.

In all seriousness what aspects of the more or less solidly socialist construct of the EU in absolute terms did you feel didn’t work from your perspective?

[this is not a fishing post or a flippant comment, I’m genuinely interested]

Blair with Lisbon had put the treaties to the UK in referenda. The nonchalance/arrogance that only they knew best, was a breeding ground for discontent. They would’ve won those referenda.

This is what did it for me. They never gave us a referendum because they knew what the answer would be. To then lie and say that the Lisbon treaty was just a tidying up exercise and not a constitution, as originally labelled and rejected in a few countries, was the final straw.

If there is a genuine good argument for brexit racists and nazis like you do a great job of tarring all brexiteers with your abhorrent views.
You also give NSC the reputation of being a safe haven for nazis and racists - something the mods seem reluctant to sort out.

With all due respect, and I know some of the folk who curate NSC, if Das Reich is posting racist nazi posts, he'll have been banned. He isn't banned so he can't be doing that. Play the ball, not the man

(And I say that as someone who can and has gone in with a two footed studs up lunge on more than one occasion - but not with every sodding post. Like Frank Zappa said about his songs about bodily functions 'no more than 15% of my cataloge is about bodily functions'. In your case 85 % of your posts have studs showing. I love a mixed metaphore till the cows come home. And a lengthy distraction in parenthesis. Who knew? ???)

The latter has never been the case, yes they may over see and collectively vote/agree on certain things ( like rights, which we will tear up pronto ) but individual national sovereignty has always been guaranteed.
