Given up getting excited about foreign players joining U23s. There must have been dozens over last few years . I know one went to Russia and is now in Norway squad but maybe somebody can tell us where these wonderkids are now.

The land of chocolate
Having been developed in their youth system, he played for Dortmund’s under-16s, 17s and 19s and was part of the squad which won the UEFA Youth League.

Scratching my head at this statement. Dortmund have never come close to winning the UEFA Youth League. I wonder if they meant the U19 Bundesliga. They are the current champions.

At the end of my tether
He is 19 but looks 39. Stocky and bearded.

One for the future obviously.

Here is the lad. Does he remind you of Alan Duffy, ? If you are as old as me, that is

Welcome to BHAFC and NSC Reda.

Tough crowd but I'm sure we'll love you as much as your countryman, Pascal Gross.

You seriously expect every u23 we sign to become a star for the first team? Get used to a lot of disappointment coming your way.

Yes, at every step up in age group for a young player, about 1 in 10 will make that step up. A club has to trawl through a thousand young players to find one which will play for the first team.

It's further complicated by the fact that some develop at different rates, so from time to time you'll get rid of someone who is going to be a star
