[Albion] So how much will it take to land Dembele?...

He'd cost closer to £40 million and he's on £80,000 a week at Lyon.
Two goals and a strong performance against Man City in the CL will give his agent an excuse to push for a little more.
I think we're priced out of this deal.

The angle of the story and rumour (not mine) is that Lyon want to sell and must sell to reinvest.

The clubs able to pay £40m have left the auction room. The likes of RB Leipzig, West Ham & Everton will be at the re-auction looking for a bargain (comparative). Lyon want this done ASAP, how low will they go?

Apart from the obvious transfer fee how much do think Lallana is on? We spend around £60m a summer and are not desperate to fill other positions.

I think we could pay 35-40 for him and a loan for Brewster we aren’t desperate to cover other spots in the squad

Not sure a Brewster loan is very likely. We've got two young promising forwards who have just had their frst season in the PL and are likely to improve with age and experience. Brewster on loan I'm sure would come with very strict conditions about games to be played, which could be very detrimental to Maupay's and Connolly's development.
I'm not saying we don't need another striker, but not necessarily a big signing one that will push Maupay and Connolly down to the bench or out of the squad when we play one up to - or a loanee we are contracted to give x number of starts to.

Not sure where this rumour has come from - waiting on Justice

Seems far fetched though as he was linked with Man Utd

We won't be spending £60 million this year as we're taking a hit due to Covid along with everyone else. I think it's around £30 million down so far and we're losing all match day/corporate/ticket revenue for the foreseeable future.

I'm guessing Lallana and Dunk with his new improved contract will be our our big earners on £50,000 ish a week? The new forward could be on as much or less depending if he's expecting to be first, second or third choice.
I'm guessing Dembele would be looking for wages in excess of that.... I'm sure Newcastle, Everton, West Ham or the usual suspects will be happy to gamble.

I take your point there but we need a forth striker if we’re going large on one a loan seems a likely scenario

Pretty sure you have just guessed at the budget as far as I’m aware TB stated we would have to be smarter in the transfer window and didn’t mention any sum, which of course he wouldn’t.

I wasn't guessing or referring to our budget, the thirty million loss was as reported by Deloitte that PL clubs would collectively take.
I've got no idea what our budget would be this season but don't expect previous years £60 million to be equalled this season.

I’d bite your hand off for him

Hmmm ... no, on balance I'd rather you didn't! But if Tammy's now the main man and Ollie isn't so sure of a starting place ........................

Loan, for sure, not to buy, and an agreement about the share of wages so we were not breaking our wage structure.

Just a feeling - only ever happened twice before (Ken Beamish and Mick Robinson). Let's see!
