Zero miles in April and now well behind my 1200 miles for the year target - bad news.

Full stretch routine this morning for the first time in a month and absolutely no coughing - good news.

Long walk planned tomorrow morning.

Certainly a bad month for GB. The machine was perfectly oiled and building up for sub 4 BM. Glad you’re almost ready to get back on it.

A big thank you for posting that 1 mile time/AG. The margin between us is so unbridgeable that I can take a rest form running and await the re-opening of the physio. Had you posted a 75%AG I'd still be charging along the seafront, busting a gut (and various other parts of the body) to catch you.

So I'm now going into spectator mode and create a gap in the squad for GB to fill as he recovers. In the meantime, I'll hit the bike for hills and the (hateful) rowing machine on low resistance. Cheers!

I think you might well be right about [MENTION=18183]big nuts[/MENTION]. But we could hardly have called it the Big Nuts Challenge could we - people might get the wrong idea about this thread.

183.3 miles for me in April. I ran 8 miles yesterday just so I'd sneak ahead of last month's 182 miles. So, another record month I think, and in one day less!

I feel slightly disappointed as halfway through the month, I thought I could get to 200 miles, but I've taken things a bit easier over the last couple of weeks due to leg weariness. I'd rather be a bit more sensible, and keep on running, than hit a target that really means nothing and injure myself.

The highlight was probably taking my half marathon best down from 1:46:31 to 1:41:37. It wasn't just the record, it was the consistent splits all the way through, with my slowest mile being the first (7:53) and the quickest being the last at 7:36 - there was absolutely no "hanging on" at the end - just a steady pace that I held all the way through.

I also equalled my 5km best, set on 31st March, of 20:14. It's given me confidence that I have a sub-20 in me, particularly if I run a course that doesn't involve crossing numerous roads (including the A27 and A259), dodging cars coming out of driveways and swinging onto roads to socially-distance from pedestrians.

Beyond that though, it's just been a lovely month to be out - the weather has been amazing and besides the road running, I've had some great fun out on the trails with the dog, and also "PE with Dad" short runs with my lad. It feels a long month though, the runs in Strava from the first week in April feel a lot longer ago than they are.

May will be more of the same. I'm now on day 91 of my runstreak, so I'm eyeing what to do on day 100. I reckon my 10km best (44:34) is probably the easiest one to crack.

I closed out running every day in April with 304 miles for the month which also took me over the 1000 miles in 2020 mark so really happy with a solid injury-free year so far. Enjoying the process :smile:

Keep doing what you're doing Bozza. To be getting up to 180 miles a month is seriously impressive.

I got DRENCHED on my runs yesterday and Weds.............need to go out today at some point, looks like passing heavy showers again so expecting another soaking................

Managed about 175m in April and approaching 600m for the year so far, have settled into 40mpw with a nice mix of sessions (I'm back on a coached plan so don't need to think about it too much, just follow instructions). Hesitate to write this but the couple of niggles I've been nursing seem to have just about gone, I'm being far more rigorous with post-run stretching (and we're building a decent warm-up section into every run), just need to stop the all-day grazing and try to get some weight off - proving a real struggle at the moment.

I had a go at the 1 Mile Challenge this morning. Great fun giving it some full beans, started off too fast and fell away a bit and the lactate build up towards the end was immense.

It's tricky to find a flat 1 mile stretch where I live as it's pretty undulating (I'm either going up or down) but the stretch of country lane I went for wasn't too bad.

Here's the stats: Distance: 1:01 mile / Moving Time: 5:02 / Pace: 4:58 / Elevation Gain: 23 ft / Shoes: Nike 4%'s (Strava link below).

Rounded up I think that might give me a time of 5:00 or 5:01? I'll defer to the Gaffer / GNT / Big Nuts Adjudication Panel to verify the time & AG result. :smile:

5k walk for me this morning with big stretch routine afterwards. No ill effects so planning on getting up earlyish tomorrow for a 4 mile jog attempt. Meanwhile, just in case there is face mask enforcement, I have just got a set of 4 lightweight and technical bandana / neck rolls that can be pulled up over the face. Easily washable if face covering is needed and, if it's not, I'm around if anyone needs a bank done over.

Excellent effort.4:59 and 80.57% is my decision.

That is the time from standing start to completion of a mile.

Can't wait to have another go in a few weeks wearing my Vaporfly. From what I've read about them they may find the mere 58 seconds to beat your time.:lol:

Ran by the testing at The Amex this afternoon and then up Wild Park to go through Hollingbury Fort. I've done a lot of hills quite easily lately and was pissed off when I had to stop twice in the final 40 metres of the climb. It was tough. Beautiful milky dew pond on the top with great views over Brighton where I could have a minute's respite.

Anyway looking on Strava it gives that section as up to 32% gradient. Bearing in mind Truleigh Hill is under 10% I don't feel so bad with the 10 steps of walking and the lame attempt at jogging..
