Are you taking Two profs, Ppf, Pasta and Mouldy Boots ?

You two coming down the Mall could provide some much needed entertainment

Do enjoy yourselves with Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Yaxley-Lennon, Farage, Francois and Widdecombe, it sounds absolutely delightful

I am afraid I have a prior engagement

The most reassuring aspect of the whole thing today IMHO is that the results of the democratic referendum are FINALLY being enacted. This, to me, is paramount. I'm not exactly chuffed with the results of the last General Election (or the few before that one) but I'm not about to bellow into a megaphone and hijack major news broadcasts for months and years on end to inflict my personal views on the nation in an effort to overturn the result

EU commissioners are nominated by the elected Governments of member nations of the EU and only serve for a limited time. They are more democratically accountable than the House of Lord's, for example.

For a handy reference guide to EU vs UK "democracy", please find attached.

So the question still stands .... how do I, as an ordinary voter, get rid of any one of the commissioners ? Answer I can't. And I'd already posted that we need to deal with the HoLs.

Correct, you can't, in the same way there are also a number of positions in UK political life you cannot remove. Speaker of the House of Commons / Lords for example. But the appointment was made by a democratically elected Government acting on behalf of their nation.

How do I remove the Head of State? I would regard that as more important than being able to remove individuals who are essentially civil servants.

So you claim that you have already responded, but now can't find the response, on something that apparently, a couple of hours earlier, you didn't know existed

I've highlighted the part answering the 'odious procedures' because you are obviously struggling to find it. What I really don't understand why yourself, Is it PotG, Pasta, Portslade Seagull etc insist on lying on forums when it's all there in black and white for anyone to read and quote

Anyway, today's the day for you to enjoy your 50p piece, tea towel and Big Ben Bong, so have a great time

Time to let it go now old son.

Yes you can see the masses of people getting there early to get the best positions to join the celebration party.

It's all a matter of perception, isn't it - I looked at that picture, and my first thought was, wonderful! There's none of those bl**dy blue flags about!

As this momentous, historic day unfolds it's perhaps time to reflect on all the posts parroting predictions of a referendum vote induced recession, mass unemployment, medicine shortages, house price collapse, stock market crash, grounded flights, pestilence etc. Obviously, the same people who believed that nonsense have already decided that regaining the ability to strike a trade deal with the worlds largest economy and fastest growing markets around the world is a negative and any trade deals we will negotiate will take forever and will be terrible .. while also claiming this 'far-right' government is intent on abandoning workers/environmental standards, bringing in a Singapore on Thames unfettered capitalism policy and have to cave in to any demand (sell of NHS, Chlorinated chicken etc) as we are supposedly weak and desperate.

Meanwhile, we have already seen the Government intervene to save Flybe, bring Northern Rail back into state ownership and ignore pressure from the US over Huawei.... same old same old.

Those in bold would have happened if we were leaving without a withdrawal agreement - the beloved *no deal* of some fools - please don't conflate them with the current situation.

*cough* we haven't left yet *cough*

Let's see how well your promises come to fruition. We leave properly in a year. Let's revisit.

The blue in the Union flag will be removed and it will no longer be a union flag.
