Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Of course Nige will taking his EU pension...

Its the least I deserve for all me and my family have been through

He is one of the few British MEPs that qualify. He has also got all the money from the Brexit candidates who stood in the European and general election, but didn’t get elected, some losing their deposits.
He’s quids in.

What's he going to do after 31st January? Won't he be pretty much obsolete after that (assuming we do actually leave the EU tomorrow)?

As for watching a program about him? Not for me, Clive. 'Spy in the Wild' for us last night, which was fascinating and hilarious in equal measure!

The person voted Brexit because they knew that it would unltimately increase non-European (non-white) immigration and that that would piss off Farage's racist supporters?
Not piss off, but voted Brexit because inevitablely it will make it easier to come here from (in this case) India.

We also all know people who voted Brexit because they thought that immigration from such countries would decrease.

According to him he will “not leave the battlefield”. My guess? He’ll collect his EU pension, add it to all the Brexit Party fees and **** off. Occasionally popping up to spout vile on the radio and Newsnight.

Your last bit is the bit I don't get. What does he have to offer now? He has 'won' his battle, so what else is there to spout about? I mean he could keep banging on about the EU, but it won't make much difference and won't be relevant. Maybe he'll use his phone-ins to ask who people would want trade deals with? Or maybe he'll branch out and carry on waffling on other subjects, as I've noticed he's started doing – such as the royal family, privatisation and Trump's impeachment.

Thinking about it, maybe his band of loyal supporters will follow him whatever he does, or wherever he goes. Even after they realise that he doesn't really give a shite about any of them and was only in it to see what he could get out of it :dunce:

He's a professional grievance merchant. He'll find something else to be outraged about and latch onto that.

Couldn’t agree more. It’ll be a money making exercise now. I think he will pop up to keep his face in the game so that he can milk the after dinner speaker circuit, a la Blair.

I can well envision him doing a “leave the EU” tour of EU territories.

Lincoln Imp used to make claims like this on the Brexit thread, on a daily basis. It's a classic falsehood.

Why is it that I've never met anyone who thinks this? Or met anyone who voted because of a bus?

Apologies for quoting myself but I wanted to add (given the title of the thread and premise of the show), Farage is not in any way someone who has "done" anything to make Brexit happen. He didn't call the referendum, he didn't lead the official Leave campaign, he didn't vote to trigger Article 50 (because he's not, and never has been, an MP), he has not been on the negotiating team for the Withdrawal Agreement and he has not voted in favour of it. He's done literally NOTHING to make Brexit actually happen. What he's done is sniped, jeered and bluffed his way round without having to do any of the actual hard work involved in making it work.

And if / when things start going wrong (or at least not how was promised, which is nigh on impossible to achieve), guess who'll be all over the place telling us how it's all the fault of those people who DID make Brexit happen, and how if only he'd been in charge of it (not that he ever had any intention of being, but it's all part of his narrative) everything would be wonderful? The streets would be paved with gold, milk and honey would flow forth and it'd snow at Christmas. And there'll be thousands upon thousands of fools out there who will unquestioningly swallow his every word, because "good old Nigel told it like it is and got us Brexit which they then ballsed up" and round the whole sorry loop we have to go again.

In the meantime he'll go back to being paid to be "controversial". Because that's all that matters to many these days, not whether or not these people actually know anything about the thing they're talking about (and Farage, considering how long he was an MEP, is staggeringly ill-informed about the EU), but that they're good entertainment. They'll line him up against some sop on the other side (he refuses to go up against people he knows can run rings round him, like James O'Brien) and win his little victory, which his supporters can lap up and continue the cult of Brave Sir Nigel. Who knows what his next target for unjustified outrage is going to be, although my guess is something like the smoking ban.
