The greatest fictional character has got to be Jesus.

Not (mostly) held as fictional character by independent historians.

How is it offensive to point out something that quite possibly true.

Don't be a silly person. It is obviously offensive to many people. It comes from the same place as racism, anti-semitism, homophobia, xenophobia and all the other bigotry we are trying to put a stop to. Sure, you can believe what you want but you also can't be so stupid as to think it isn't an offensive comment to people who believe differently to you. And, as has been stated, many historians would disagree with you. So why not try again and pick someone truly fictional and who won't be offensive to other posters on here?

Suggesting that beliefs which affect the whole population might be based upon false premises is the same as bigotry is patently absurd. Its not me who is the silly person here. Heck if your line of thinking were taken up Darwin would have been thrown into a dungeon and killed. Maybe you think Giordano Bruno got what he deserved for offending the beliefs of the clergy?

No. AS far as I am concerned Jesus and God are truly fictional characters. If you have trouble with my lack of belief that is your issue. But ok, if you insist I will pick a character that many, maybe most, historians think is a mythical figure Moses happy now

Oh I dont know. I think the stories are hilarious.

Depends how you time the stories .

If you're on a date with a gorgeous stunner, in a swanky bar and you word for word tell her about the resurrection of Jesus plus its spiritual message, then fall to the floor laughing your tits off, she'll obviously love you and find you hard to resist.

tell her about his **** of a mate Judas just when you're about to make sweet love, and you're in for a depressing night.

Timing my friend.

Nope, I put forward His alter ego Jesus. Even if big J was a real person it is fairly clear to me the rest of the story is pure fiction.
Yes, but the question isn't 'whose story has the most whoppers in it?'. And even if Jesus hadn't existed, surely God is a bigger character?
