The only reason we may now possibly get a deal is because A) Boris has made it quite clear we’re leaving come what may, and B) Boris has been prepared to compromise and find an acceptable way forward for all parties concerned in particular the DUP and the Irish PM. If we do leave with a deal on 31st October, it will certainly be a remarkable feat of leadership, which quite frankly will put the leader of the opposition to shame.

I’m excited to see what has happened yesterday and today and what has been offered.

There is going to be some very unhappy leavers - yes yes I know remainers as well.

This is going to be a master stroke or the beginning of the end of Boris.

NEW: Boris Johnson twice refuses to say Northern Ireland will leave the EU's Customs Union under the new pathway agreed with Varadkar. Instead, says: "The whole of the UK will be able to take full advantage of Brexit".

Has he bet on labour voting on deal?

He doesn’t need DUP anymore so it makes sense

If only there was a thread where we could discuss such things.
There isn't actually much 'discussion' on there, to be fair. It's become a sort of support group for those who think that people who disagree with their particular view believe in unicorns. Daft, I know, but I suppose we should be sympathetic to minorities, even if they're gathered together in a much greater concentration on NSC.

Dare say this thread will go the same way, so I'm out. If I had a unicorn, it would be too.

It remains to be seen if the latest proposal is 'acceptable' with the DUP...
True, but perhaps it will win others round if not. Regardless, I think it is fair to say Boris is genuinely trying to find a deal before we leave on the 31st October. No doubt there will be scenes tomorrow.’

Could Johnson be on the brink of a decent Brexit deal ? Seems incredible and would be extraordinary. I just want an end to this Circus now, either way

Well US, if you can tell us what a 'decent deal' consists of, I can definitely tell you whether Johnson is on the brink of it.

But since you, Johnson, nobody in government and nobody on NSC can tell us what a 'decent deal' looks like, I would guess the answer is no, yet another unicorn. That's why it would appear incredible and extraordinary.

Hope this helps

Why will there be scenes tomorrow?
Parliament is not sitting tomorrow but on October 19th....
Could that be strategic?
By the way, I don't think we should simply take it for granted that 'Boris' is genuine in his attempts to find a deal. After all, there's no proof of that and his Chief advisor is Dominic Cummings.

This is the original 2017 Backstop deal that was agreed and then changed, just dusted off and given an effectively unactivatable break clause. It could have been negotiated in 2017 if anyone had bothered.
