The whole thing seems to be getting more bizarre by the day. There were a few clips circulating of very obvious drones around what looked like Gatwick on certain news feeds......but surprisingly few given the supposed number of ‘sightings’ and the number of people that would have been looking for them. A poster on here said 30 people in his office were watching one at one point so doesn’t sound like they were mythical

We have someone who works for the PCS when not at Virgin and he called bullshit on the people arrested.

He also said the police had drones in the air so we could have been those we saw

The two suspects were fortunate they were a married couple living together in an apparently stable relationship. The press must have been slightly disappointed and spent hours looking for cracks which hinted at something more sinister.

The tabloids would have had a field day if the suspect had been a single man who lived on his own like Colin Stagg or Christopher Jefferies and would have painting him as a 'weirdo", "loner", "oddball" or "creepy" to use some of the epithets most commonly employed by the tabloids in such circumstances. In that respect the couple got off relatively lightly.

They were shopped on apparently. Who needs friends like that!

So maybe the last 12 hours of delays were caused by police drones flying ? that's going to go down well !

Absolutely scandalous from the police and the media. No one should EVER be named when arrested until charged. I hope they get some good compensation which, in this instance, will be totally deserved.

I believe it was our wonderful MP Henry Smith that dropped the names publicly. I don't imagine he was given this information without asking for it either.

Carry on Constabulary, what a shambles this is turning out to be !! Surely a promotion for the bod in charge if last season's omnishambles at the Palace match is any precedent

How many potential terrorists are rubbing their hands at the moment?!?

Based on this episode Sussex OB would struggle to find shoes in a shoe shop after looking for 24 hours and announce at a press conference the possibility that shoes don't actually exist.

How on earth is there no CCTV footage? How can they hold a bloke for 36 hours when he has a cast iron alibi? They must've nicked him based on the flimsiest evidence of all time. Nobody is safe, if you know what a drone looks like you're in the frame!

Disgusting that their names and details were made known outside of the police investigation. A massive invasion of innocent peoples privacy.

Given the Keystone nature of the Sussex Police response I wouldn’t dismiss them spotting their own drones.

They’re not called the nasty party for nothing.

Wait until Friday when The Sun has a world exclusive interview with the arrested couple for which they got paid a hefty fee.
Did I hear correctly that the guy is a window fitter who was working on the days of the flights?

names were originally reported to media from neighbours.

it is now recognised in law as invasion of privacy to release the names before charging. so they will be in line for lot of cash to soften the blow. tenuous but interesting argument i heard that the publicity led to faster resolution with employer and others coming forward to support their alibis. another point made was that naming people can acclerate an investigation as people come forward with information. im on the "dont name" side (especially before charging) but interesting views, its balance that we get wrong eitherway.

This doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. If you were wrongly arrested, but had a cast-iron alibi, you’d immediately tell the police yourself who the alibis were.

I wouldn't trust them to spot someone stood by the permiter fence with a remote control in their hand whilst wearing an "I Love Drones" t-shirt.

Cover up for a big terrorist threat I reckon. Didn’t want to alarm public and sitting ducks at the airport so threw a few drones over the airport while they sorted it
