It's sexist. Yes she is a woman. Yes he may think she's stupid. To say the two together is sexist, in the same way that saying Bong is black and stinks is racist.

Not really what you want from a party leader. If that is what he said.

Hardly the first indication that he is not what you'd want as a leader.

So my question remains what should he say? I don’t see it as sexist at all but maybe I’m behind the times and need to stop calling people what they are.

So is it stupid person, stupid human, stupid ****, Cupid stunt, stupid bugger? Which of these is more offensive and which is acceptable? Who actually doesn’t call people anything without referring to their gender sometimes. Is Corbin a sexist man or is that in itself a sexist statement?

I bloody give up if this is the most important thing to have come out of parliament today.

ITV news had an expert lip reader who stated that it was clearly stupid woman.

How the hell would a NSCer think they know different

Yet other professional lip readers & phonetic experts have said that Corbyn used a voiceless bilabial plosive "P" sound (as in "stupid people") and others have said it’s not 100% clear either way. So, which experts are correct? The ones who said he did, the ones who said he didn’t or the ones who aren’t sure?

I don't care about what Corbyn said as much as I care about a colossal amount of money being wasted by May in an attempt to scare people into supporting her deal when no money is apparently available for the NHS, the homeless, anything worth spending on.

Even though I happen to think her deal is probably as true a representation of the 52-48 Brexit vote as we're likely to get: half in, half out.

Oh I've no doubt she had ambitions to be PM - and I don't think many people are saying - or thinking - she took it on purely through the goodness of her heart. I do get pissed off with people lampooning her (mainly remainers, because they don't want her to succeed) - for better or worse she seems to be the only person actually trying to deliver Brexit, respecting the outcome of the referendum (which she herself disagreed with) while getting no help from any side - in fact all sides are doing their best to hinder and hamper her efforts.
You are entitled to your opinion on Theresa May and others of course - just as I am that I believe she is utterly hapless, completely out of her depth and the second worst PM since WW2.

So the lip reading expert that was on the news earlier was wrong and you think you're right.

Copied from my previous post...

Only problem this is the worst opposition leader since the war, and that includes when IDS led the Tories.

Labour should be absolutely taking the Tories apart, the fact they aren’t and in fact are taking the pressure off through ‘stupid’ comments, says everything. All IMO of course....

All a terrible mess wherever you look.....

You realise the expert on ITV, paid to deliver a news story narrative is not the only lip reading expert in the world right? I mean if you take that as fact then you should be face palming yourself really.

By modern standards, calling someone a "stupid woman" is sexist. It will take the older generations some time to catch up with this concept.

Replace "woman" with an ethnic minority or religion, and it will be clearer why that is.

Any negative connotation applied to a personal identity is discriminatory. This is why "stupid people" is acceptable, because it doesn't do that.

But if he’s referring to an individual, he can’t say “people”, can he? She’s a woman and describes herself as a woman so why isn’t that sexist, too?

The world has gone bloody crazy!

I think most people believe he said "stupid woman".
He's denied that.
Most people will now find him less trustworthy.
He has damaged his reputation.
If only Labour could ditch Corbyn and Abbott and back a Peoples Vote, they could sale into power.

Think it was already damaged, but couldn’t agree more....

It's a unique political situation where the opposition really doesn't want to take power and have the poisoned chalice handed over to them. No opposition since the war would want to pick up the pieces of this shit storm.

Didn’t Napoleon go mad in the end?

Nobody would want the current situation, the trouble none of them are serving the country only themselves.

You keep on believing :D
I'm sure the news story said 3 lip reading experts said the same thing, the chap interviewed I believe is deaf, so I'm going to trust what he said.

Is the poster I quoted a lip reading expert? That's my point

I never said she was doing it well (although maybe it's the best anyone could do under the circumstances, with everybody from all sides trying to block, hinder or hamper her - but that's another matter). I don't actually think she is doing it that well, but she is the only one out there trying to deliver Brexit.

I wonder who you think was worse ...... Eden, Thatcher, Heath, Brown, Cameron, Major - even Blair in the end. You've got a lot to choose from!
