It is hard to imagine as the older generation have everything already.

I'm not trying to 'correct' you and indeed agree that the younger generation is having it tougher than that of the boomers. However it hasn't always been the land of milk and honey: many will recall the property boom and bust of the late 1980s when we had the spectre of negative equity and interest rates well into double figures. But generally I'm on your side in this one.

You really are blighted by your hatred of the older generations. Many pensioners live on or below the poverty line. Many can't afford to heat their homes despite it being a risk to their lives not to do so. Many get stuck in hospital when they are ill because the social care programme is shot to bits. You need to take your rose coloured ( or should that be envy coloured ) specs off and see it's not the older generations that have done you bad - it's the political elite of any age.

True. But it’s fair to say the baby-boomers, and my generation below that, generally had it a lot easier. Housing was cheap, education was free and the freedom to go anywhere in the EU without any hindrance existed (and this latter point was certainly exploited by many from these generations ). Current generations often cannot afford to live where they were brought up, university is around 40k a degree and the last option which was to leave Britain for a fairer life elsewhere is about to be slammed shut in their faces. This wasn’t their doing; the young have absolutely every right to be fuming at the older generations. We have all let them down.

They can still go to Europe after Brexit. My wife spent a year in France and was living with an American and Australian at the tine,when she was doing her degree in the 90s. You can't just turn up in Europe anyway without some form of registration with the country you want to stay in.

You currently have total and unrestricted ability to live, work, set up business, move money, do whatever in Europe. Americans and Australians do not. It is nowhere as easy for them as it is for Brits. It really is this simple. I know Americans, Aussies and a Canadian and I know exactly how different it is for them and us.

With respect, it was a metaphor and I think most people will understand I was not implying it will be absolutely and totally impossible to travel to Europe anyone. If they did, I hope I’m now clear. If not I’ll go back and edit my post to say the door will be stiff and difficult to open.....but this isn’t as poetic.

I must admit when we bought our Spanish property in early 2000 it was very easy, I don't know what would be put in place on top after we leave. Spain and France want our business.

So you’re basing your argument about all the many many freedoms we currently enjoy on the notion you might, read that again....might, be able to still buy property without issue. Stop wasting my time.

And whilst we’re on this specific topic they don’t always want your business. From my experience banks can’t be arsed to lend to non-EU citizens; try getting a mortgage as a yank and you’ll soon find out. When I asked I was told the paperwork is a ball-ache and there’s a lot less guarantee outside the EU.
