Think I read or heard somewhere that the UK exports 75% of its fish. Mostly to the EU.

I've seen that. I wonder if it means that if there is no deal we'll obtain the right to catch all the fish we want at exactly the same time as we restrict access to the people who want to buy it?

As I understand it, the English fishing fleets tend towards fishing Norwegian (particularly Cod) for which Norway gets some sort of payback somewhere else, Irish and French waters, as well as UK waters, and will soon be just UK waters, and will now be under threat of tariffs for exporting the 75% of our catch to the EU. Im not seeing how that is an improvement tbh

Another fishing factor never mentioned is that 75% of The Falkland Islands fish catch is exported to The EU too - worth nearly £200m to their economy along with their other chief import to The EU - wool. They, along with our overseas Territories, will presumably all be leaving OCTA when we leave The EU and if tariffs are imposed it'll hurt them too.

So Jacob Rees-Mogg was worried about The UK becoming a joke nation because of Brexit, but he is denied entry to a boat for a fishing protest, runs away, Farage and some others throw a load of dead fish into the sea, it's gets reported to the authorities as fly-tipping..................

I'm really rather puzzled as to why there are any Leave voters on this thread at all. If I had "won" and truly believed what I had "won" was for the greater good , was the best thing to happen to Britain and was the absolute way to go, the last thing I would do would be to come on a forum where all the "losers" are "whinging and re-moaning". If I claimed to hate all the negativity and claimed to be bored by all the "snowflakes", I wouldn't even open the thread to look.
If they are so convincved it's all going to be fine. I mean convinced, as they tell us every other post, why would I worry what a few sore losers thought? Certainly wouldn't bother me enough to keep trying to convincve remainers that it'll actually be good for Britain.
It could either be that they are just a bunch of trolls who like a row (some definitely are that) or... unless of course.....

TBH I really don't get the obsession some in the Brexit camp have with fishing. It's a negligible impact on the UK economy, roughly equivalent to the UK porn industry. It'd be as valid an argument to say that if we need to leave the EU because fishing quotas damage fishing we also need to retain Freedom of Movement in order that the UK porn industry can hire European...erm...participants.

To put it in numerical terms, fishing is worth roughly £1bn to the UK economy. Horse racing, a sector likely to be decimated by Brexit, is worth £4bn. So that's a net £3bn down before we've hardly started.
