My local pharmacist says the price we pay for generic drugs is far better than anybody else in Europe and the move towards EU standardisation would have drastically put up the price burden on the NHS budget.More suppliers generally means more competitive pricing, leaving slack in the budget for 'lifestyle drugs'.

This is true, but non EU, non EMA Switzerland has the highest prices.

Gods country fortnightly
This morning from Mark Carney...

The economy is now about 1 percentage point smaller than it would have been had the 2016 EU referendum gone the other way, and that the gap will widen to about 2 percentage points by the end of the year. That’s equivalent to tens of billions of pounds in lower economic activity, and the question is how to make that up by growing above potential, he said.

Brexit dividend for the NHS eh Boris?

Here's one to watch all day. Only a matter of time before Hammond is accused of treason even though the type of Brexit was never voted for

The type of Brexit was clearly set out in the Conservative party 2017 manifesto. Perhaps Hammond forgot what was in it or forgot what he signed up to a few months ago.

UK economic growth exceeds forecasts

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42831655

Sterling jumped 0.8% to $1.4253 following the release of the GDP figures.

What happened to the inevitable embarrassment of parity with the dollar?

I quite like this one ....

UK 2017 Annual Growth +1.8%
Forecasts were:

Barclays 0.7%
CEBR 0.8%
BofA-ML 0.9%
RBS 1%
Morgan Stanley 1%
EU Commission 1%
IMF 1.1%

Monkey with a dartboard would do better than that lot .....

Oooops actual facts, don't start that malarkey .........

If that article reads as good news to you, you are easily pleased. Essentially it says growth is weak, but not quite as weak as feared.

To be fair, the Global economy has outperformed all expectations, we are getting carried with it.

Now you tell me, I cannot recall you putting that caveat into your predictions, did you think the world economy was going to have a few years off ??

Has Mark Carney actually forecast anything correctly yet. I don't think he has. Another who talks down for the sake of it

Also although the UK economy is performing better than expected its performance is the worst of the top 7 world economies the UK exports have been hugely helped by the low value of GBP combined by suppressed wages
