... in the Cup. You’d be surprised, many people have so little interest in the FAC.

If we could put a bit of a cup run together I know attitudes would change. As it is we always go out like a wet blanket year on year

Completely wrong and the fact that so many people still think this was UTDs fault is one of the reasons why the cup has been killed. They were given no choice that year it was a year of a new world club cup competition that was MANDATORY and the media decided to blame UTD for it rather than the real culprits FIFA and UEFA. Much that I hate UTD this is one thing you cant blame them for.

Where is your source for the World Club Championship being mandatory ?
That’s not how I understand it. Manchester Utd pulled out after discussions with the FA and with the hope that by so doing England would be selected to host the 2006 World Cup. By making that choice Manchester Utd and the FA instantly devalued the FA Cup (as explained by @Captain Sensible )

10875 left give or take a few . Selling around 100 a day on average over the past 5 days so this would suggest around a 20k gate if sales remain the same .

20k will be a decent efffort. Way more home fans than the 11k palaceanaged for our first meeting in the championship for many years.

Shhh, you can't say that, we should have sold out in ten minutes, anyone who doesn't go is a jcl, we're an embarrassment to football, etc ...

And nails in the coffin of the FA Cup-

Moving the final time from 3PM.
Not having the final as the very last game of the season.
This and playing semi finals at Wembley. It used to be extremely special for a player and fans to play there. Once you had to be an International or in a major cup final. Now so many games are played there, even Tottenham using it for home fixtures FFS. The magic, although I hate to admit it, has gone.

Nope 1-1 - you need a football education if you think the 5-0 game all those years ago was in the Championship  But I guess you’re one of the new 10k premier fans you acquired?

There are many many reasons why the cup is being killed - the final being moved from 3pm, on the same day as premier league games, only one replay, semi finals at Wembley, teams selecting B-sides - but I refuse to be part of this devaluation, I still love the cup and will still follow it wholeheartedly

I think it was in the Championship though wasn’t it ? The season we came up and lost about the first dozen games (i thought it better if I chip in rather than our Palace friend).
Or are you referring to whatever fancy title the FA were using ? It may have been called something else that year but basically it’s Division 2.

No. 'The Championship' started in 2004.

It was Division 1 before that.

Of course I am .
My memory isn't as good as it was, but as you know, google is wonderful.
Was you at the game per chance ?

Really happy with this. It will probably be our first decent game at the Amex when the crowd will be genuine fans

There has been a deliberate club and police strategy of making this fixture difficult to attend. It will be ironic if that results in regulars being replaced by what you call ‘genuine fans’ with the associated increase in chances of problems outside the ground.
