Surely, the only cover we have is Sidwell, if Hughton sets up as we expect him to in a 4-4-1-1. The middle 2 of the midfield 4 would have been between Stephens, Propper, Kayal and Sidwell (possibly in that order), with Gross or Brown then linking to Murray or Hemed.

There are other options, of course, but they involve players being out of position, if only ever so slightly, but at this level that could make the difference.

He can, but it wouldn't be Hughton's choice to play him there.

I don't doubt things can be covered, even if another genuine CM picks up an injury or suspension, but it means Hughton having to shuffle the deck in a way he would prefer not to have to do.

Think CH will certainly have to review this urgently, with the25 man squad we do not have room to waste. Wouldn't surprise me if we get another CM in as cover... maybe a good u21 purchase or loan??

Looking at the way Propper plays I had expected him to come into the squad at the expense of Kayal (who I do highly rate) - so I'm not sure how much this'll change the mindset of CH.

I can see the argument for playing Sidwell, Propper probably doesn't even know all his teamates names yet. Maybe start him at Leicester or Watford.
