Decent. Going to have a hell of a lot of players with no PL experience. Just what the midfield and the team as a whole needs.

Pleased with this news, well deserved after last season's displays. Great experience which may well prove invaluable.

Looking old. He's got more lines than a ploughed field.

Nothing a bit of botox can't sort out if you really wan't him to look youthful?

I'm pleased with this news. Solid, experienced player who's good to have around the place - and good to bring on when you want to either calm sh!t down, or crank sh!t up.

Not harsh, he wasn't deemed good enough for the Prem 2 seasons ago, that's why he dropped down to us to get a game, and even then he was behind Kayal and Stephens.

We'll have to disagree. He certainly wasn't behind Kayal last season. Often he formed a very effective partnership with Stephens.

Good, thoroughly deserved after the way he stepped up last season, played a pivotal role. Great guy to have in the squad even if he doesn't get so much game time. Looking forward to singing his song a few times when he warms up.

This makes good sense. He knows many of the players that we'll be coming up against for the first time and his knowledge and experience will be important.

And yet he had a far better season than Beram and therefore played a lot more games.
He's a good defensive sub too.

Reckon he'll be bottom of the midfield pecking order. So he had a good season, that was in the championship, He's now a year older on those legs in a far superior division.

What is the fascination with some people about constantly resigning the same players? If we go in to the next season with mainly the same squad we'll go straight back down.

We'll have to disagree. He certainly wasn't behind Kayal last season. Often he formed a very effective partnership with Stephens.

Well considering Kayal had a bit of stop start season due to injuries then yes he proably did have a better season, but a fully fit (MATCH SHARP) Kayal will always be a better option.

The payback on Kermorgant alone was worth another years contract .

Very happy with this, given his style of play, quality and experience I wouldn't be surprised with a bit of an Indian summer to his career!

And Bruno in La Liga.
And Bong in Ligue 1.
And Hünemeier in the Bundesliga.

I wasn't going to bother with other leagues, but yes, those too.

(And Hemed in La Liga and the Israeli top division, Maenpaa in the Eredivisie, Bong in the Greek Superleague, Skalak in the Czech L1 and Kayal in the (don't laugh) SPL...

And he will probably be even further behind Kayal and Stephens next season. I expect him to start even fewer games. Nevertheless though, such an important player to have in and about the dressing room. Has played more Premier Leage games than anyone at the club. His input could be crucial, as we step into the unknown.

Good news. We're going to need a lot of players, because we're going to need everyone fresh and hungry, at the top of their game, playing for their places, playing as if it's a Cup Final, if we're going to survive.

Brighton midfielder Steve Sidwell signs a new one-year contract with the newly-promoted Premier League club.

Sidwell made 34 league appearances last season as the Seagulls returned to the top flight after a 34-year absence.

The 34-year-old joined Brighton on an initial loan deal from Stoke in January 2016, before joining the club on a free transfer ahead of last season.

Someone at BBC sport is being paid a bonus every time 34 is mentioned.

I've no issue that we offered him a new 1 year deal, and if we change system for the PL and play 3 across the middle then we do need some more midfielders, but I just hope this is all it is, a backup if we are injury ravaged or for Milk Cup games, or whatever its called now.

Silly boy. It hasn't been the MILK cup since 1986. Its the RUMBELOWS cup now!
