Exactly, she wants as many votes as possible, she thinks doing this will likely lose her votes, ergo she is scared to do debate like this (or at all it seems).
There is nothing wrong with this position, as you say it is sensible, being scared and being sensible aren't mutually exclusive.

on the matter of the "leak" from the dinner last week, two points strike me as odd. firstly, after the meeting Junker (or representatives of Junker) said the meeting had been constructive. secondly, why would you carry two reams of documentation from agreements with EU unless you were spoiling for a confrontation? seems like the leak is possibly containing some fibs and distortions to make a point in EU circles at our expense, or at the very least they are not being straight in their dealings with us.

I take your point and I am furious at how this election is playing out. I do feel though as the TV debates have become a fixture in the modern age and we're left with a nadir in British politics not seen since the 1930s and such ill-informed misinformation and assumptions spouted from all sides, as seen in last years Brexit vote and such a wretched apathy toward politics in general, TV debates should take place as way of engaging with the electorate to make an informed decision and actually get out and vote, particularly amongst the young. Instead she swerves them and we'll have a coronation next month. The Labour Party aren't my own mob also - no party is.

I dont think you do, the current tide of political opinion happens to be opposite to yours at the moment, so you are swinging punches aimlessly and feeling aggrieved.
The TV debates are just another stick to beat her with, I am sure you are anti Trump, are you then saying that the US TV debates enlightened the whole campaign and swept Trump to a deserved win, I somehow doubt it yet you are now saying that the US TV debates are somehow core to democratic values, I think not.
You're just being selective because current political thought is out of kilter with your own, dont expect Tories to do you a favour, why should they ?

It’s now been revealed that the US firm has sold on the NHS plasma supply company – now renamed Bio Products Laboratory – to Chinese state-owned firm Creat for £830 million.
Which means the hapless Tories have managed to cost the UK taxpayer £590 million – while at the same time ensuring essential supplies of plasma to UK patients are now in the hands of the Chinese government.

Sorry to disappoint again, but I'm not anti-Trump. I'm certainly not a supporter, I'm not American for one thing, but the jury's out on my overall opinion of him. As TV debates have been par of the course in US elections since Kennedy I would say they are core to US democratic values though - Sorry to disappoint again. I'm not being selective in the slightest - I thought the TV debates here were a good thing and I also, erroneously, believed they would continue permanently as a means of attempting to drag our politics into the modern age and fully engage with the electorate, particularly the young and particularly in light of Brexit when many politically disaffected people actually voted. The leaders of The Labour Party, The Liberal Democrats, UKIP, The SNP, The Greens and Plaid Cymru want to debate again, the Conservative leader, who advocates strong and stable leadership doesn't.
Never mind though, there are plenty of people out there who feel like I do, who also do recognise and acknowledge that this situation is not all of The Tories making, but that they're looking after themselves at the moment as they always do. I'm sure the Tories will win a landslide and destroy The Labour Party on a par with what they did in 1935 under Stanley Baldwin. Shame they stitched up ordinary British people afterwards, as well as all of Europe. Still, thankfully there's no political parallels with that today and the next 5 years, so there's nothing to worry about.
I'll take this opportunity to congratulate you and all Conservative voters next month in advance of your victory.
