I have just read FIFA Rule 14 page 8 (sorry cant copy and paste) but basically I have got this wrong after all these years as it shows action after the whistle has blown:

Infringement for encroachment ...................... Out come of kick
..................................................................... Goal ...................... No Goal

Attacking Player ...................................... Retaken .. ...... Indirect Free kick
Defending Player ......... ............................. Goal ..... ......... Retaken
Both............................................................Retaken ....................Retaken

My apologies to all....

The indirect kick should only be given if the player misses the penalty

Yes we know. That's what everyone told you last night.

That's most unlike you, BG.

Worrying that the referee, linesmen, 4th official all got it wrong.

Really important result that for us, after two shockers. Bristol was abysmal, but the Hogg injury must have knocked the players off stride, Burton was just a really shite game. I've never seen a team push and kick th back of the legs as much as they did, which, when they realised how weak the red was, led to a god awful game.

The key thing that I think wagner will have realised now though is that we can no longer afford the squad rotation that has served us so well this season. We rested Wells and Kachunga against Burton and really struggled to break through, Burton was a bit different as a big went through the team and knocked a couple of defenders out.

I think you guys and Newcastle have got the top two now, but we will chase you all the way. Our biggest miss over the past few weeks has been Izzy Brown, who is set to be back after Notts Forrest. And Palmer is also only a week or so away, though he's been out since January. If we can get these lads back for the final run in then our attack will be back to its full strength.

Hope you do it, either with us (just have a feeling Newcastle may slip yet), or through the play-off's.

The Norwich goalie last night though.....awful. Think the Easter period will probably sort it out.

That policy, from a lot closer to the top 2, did for us last season.

1) Norwich are so poor - if we come out that Friday nite all guns blazing they'll fold, that goalie?! Awful!

2) Huddersfield play some really nice football and although I don't want them to get another point, it's obvious they are like we were a few seasons ago, just one player or a few goals short of a team good enough to go up.

I think the Fri/Mon/Sat potential toughies will have a big bearing.

Don't worry BG - If A referee, reffing a Championship game can't get it right, what chance have you got. Stick to searching for left backs for us. That's yer ''Forte''

We win our 2 home games and just 1 away, if will only take 1 defeat for Huddersfield and it's over.

Here's a funny twist to the story. A couple of weeks ago Stuart Webber (director of football) left Huddersfield to join Norwich.
Last night, Huddersfield invited McClaren to watch them, amid rumours he might be their new director of football.

I always thought that the free kick was given for any infringement by the attacking side and a retake if by the the defending side. To me that seems the logical action rather than give the attacking side a 2nd bite at the cherry, having offended. I wonder if in the light of this innocent mistake FIFA will look at the rule and possibly amend it.

As regards a left back we have no need as we have our No1 Bong back. Just hope he will suffice next season in The Premier.

I very much doubt that the law will be changed because you got it wrong...

Did you just make that rumour up? ^^

Webber had done the job needed for us (found us Wagner and supported the strategy that has got us here), still was weird timing for him to leave when he did like. Our next DoF will be a similar appointment.
