I've only skimmed through the thread but there seems to be others who, like me, didn't think the 2-5% increase unreasonable.
.

It isn't.

But then the penny dropped!

If we DO get promoted we are paying the price hike for FOUR fewer games

If. IF. IF Are you advocating that the club just don't bother starting the renewal process until the end of the season? Possibly until the end of May?

AND we will have games early and late on Saturdays and on Sunday afternoons and on Monday evenings. Given the shambolic state of the transport infrastructure (P&R but more particularly the trains) getting to and from those games is going to be even more of a nightmare.

Simply untrue. The very opposite of true, in fact. The difficult ones for the overwhelming majority of people, are the midweek evenings. IF we went up, we'd have many LESS of those, not more.

If we dont get promoted, how can Barber justify a price hike well above the rate of inflation for the same product/service?

.

If we don't get promoted, then we're talking about a tiny rise that you started your own post by describing as 'not unreasonable'!

And it is justified by the fact that at the current prices, the club (well, Tony Bloom) is currently losing well over a MILLION pounds per MONTH. Perhaps we should just tell him to stump up a bit more?

Just my 2p worth.
I am a STH and I go when I can to follow the team I have supported for 30+ years. I don't consider the £ per game, if I did I would buy on a game by game situation. If I did that I wouldn't be able to buy the same seat for every game(that may not be an issue for some). I don't understand the increase kerfuffle because as I see it your not comparing eggs with eggs. The 23 games in the Championship are not directly proportional to the 19 games in the Premier League.
I think the chairman has done way and above the required "stuff" and I know it's a business but without his risk we wouldn't have what we have now. If I can do my bit I will wholeheartedly. If I took the view of some I would just calculate whether it works for me and make a choice not bleat about it.
Thanks Mr Bloom.

In your situation (and there are a fair number of us who do not live locally) you may well be BETTER off, in a couple of ways, in the event of promotion:

1. If like some, you cannot make midweek evening games, you are in luck. There will be more Saturday / Sunday games, even though the total games is less. You may well be getting to MORE games for your money.
To illustrate, here are the breakdown of days of home games this season:
Brighton - Mon 1, Tue 8, Fri 5, Sat 9
Bournemouth - Mon 1, Tue 4, Sat 11, Sun 3
Southampton - Wed 2, Sat 11, Sun 6 (and one of those Wednesdays was a Christmas fixture, they would have had many more Saturdays but had Sundays because in Europa League, and lost one as they've reached the Cup Final)

2. Because many games will sell out, the ticket exchange will be very often activated, so you stand a good chance of recouping some of the value of games you can't attend.

Difficult to tell at the moment but could be expensive. My current season ticket equates to £24.50 per game which is about £8 less than the cat B match day price. If we go up, using the same differential, my seat will have an average price of £31 so the match day price could be £40ish. That's WSU. Not sure what the other areas are likely to be.

How did you extrapolate that from his comments. The club have already put in a caveat that if we go up there would be no change to the price so they could, if they saw fit, advise that if we went up there would be no change.

Slightly disengenuous and presumptive. If the overwhelming majority did have problems with midweek fixtures then surely there would be a considerable drop in the attendance.

I agree that there is justification if we don't go up because TV revenues will stay roughly the same. The increase in ticket prices won't even put a dent on the annual loss that TB has to put up with. Unfortunately I would suggest that the only way TB can recoup money next season if we don't go up will be with sales of the likes of Stockdale, Knockaert and Dunk.

Let's see what happens come May, then all will become clearer.

True but it can be justified by the fact that there is a league agreement about away ticket prices where as there isn't one about home tickets. That said, I don't know what the equivalent calculations would be relating to the North stand which is obviously the equivalent to what away fans get.

Eh?

They CAN proceed because he's stated there would be no difference in price, regardless of division.

If there were to be a potential difference that would create a costly and time-consuming administrative head-ache, given that tens of thousands of people will be a couple of payments into a DD by the time the final cost is known,

Think they would justify it because there is an agreement between Premier League clubs about away prices but there is no such agreement for home prices.

Just checking current prices for my seat for Cat A game and it is £12 more than my season ticket average!!!!!

He might struggle to recoup any money from Stockdale leaving the club. He is out of contract in the summer.

Reallly, a headache. Just run an automatic refund on the DD of the difference. It would probably be more time consuming for those that have paid in one instalment. I'm sure a few years ago they advised that there would be a change in price if we got promoted so no difference really.
