No guarantee of help for disabled passengers, says Southern

Indeed. I'm surprised this isn't breaking the law actually.

It wouldn't surprise me to see that law quietly changed. The May is promising fewer regulations for business and once we're out of the jurisdiction of the ECJ, the rights of the disabled will disappear - it would save businesses millions not to have provide disabled access etc

Getting a free taxi sounds like a far better outcome than travelling on one of their trains.

Shameful that this will likely be the case and doubly shameful that the strikers are using the disabled card to try and garner public support.

I was helped on a train at Falmer.I was on crutches at the time having broken my leg. the very kind railway gentleman assisted me on to the train by pushing me knocking me flying.Other passengers came to my assistance but he just walked away. As you can imagine I was very impressed.

Is Joey Barton working for Southern now?

No doubt by voting for Brexit it will allow any UK government to relax their disability laws as they do not need to be EU compliant

Look in the mirror and be ashamed at what stares back

Don't feed the troll.

Seaford hasn't had a train service for nearly a year. The replacement bus service cannot take wheelchairs, and trying to arrange a taxi proved problematic for at least two disabled commuters. The person on the other end of the phone didn't have a clue.
There are quite a few unmanned stations now.

Although he might not be so quick with his crap if he or one of his family were disabled (although karma can work in weird ways) and stuck on a platform for 2 hours as there was no assistance despite it being booked

My posts aren't against the disabled. You really are thick.

Southern rail users with disabilities face delayed journeys or the prospect of no longer being able to board some trains after the company said there was no “cast-iron guarantee” that assistance would be available at all stations.

Southern has admitted it may have to book taxis for disabled travellers who cannot complete their journey because the only member of staff on the train is the driver.

Previously there were 33 stations across the Southern rail network where passengers in need of assistance to get on or off the train could turn up and be guaranteed help."

I thought Southern GUARANTEED that there would be an OBS on EVERY train to assist. Funny how they've now come out with this.

Doubly shameful that the strikers are using the disabled card to try and garner public support????

I think they should be congratulated for highlighting a disgusting disrespect for this particular section of their customer base.

It was the railway company who announced it, not the strikers.

On the tv debate, last week, Cash tried to push Horton on this very statement, and in the end, he said the majority of trains. The audience just laughed at him. It's pretty disgusting imo.

Yes. I don't believe the strikers have disabled people's best interests at heart. I think it's just another rock for the sling.
I may be wrong but anti-disabled I am not.
How many wheelchair users have suffered due to the strikes I wonder.
