For someone who has so many "shortfalls" as a Championship midfielder its surprising he's managed to rack up nearly 75 appearances including being first choice for us in a play off season.
Just because we've now recruited players who are ahead of him in the pecking order, and are top of the league as result, doesn't mean he's suddenly up the spout at the age of 24 and that the 23 other Champ teams wouldn't be interested.

Stated that he would stay in the championship.

Precisely. In my view he provides reasonable cover and is very athletic, which is exactly what teams need.

Exactly!

Just because we've recruited well and situation and circumstance means there's no place for Ince at the moment, he's still a very decent Championship player. Anyone suggesting he's league one material now is having a laugh.

Oscar really did him a disservice shifting him from his Chelsea position of centre back - was never going to have the technique you need to be a top class midfielder

Wholeheartedly agree. From the little I have seen of him playing in his old position of centre back, either for the development squad, or in the EFL Cup, he has looked really assured.

Just because his career at the Albion is probably over, then there's a remarkable revisionism about his contribution to our team in the last few years.
He was key to the play off team in 2013/14, was one of the bright spots of the following Hyppia/Hughton season, and has played nearly 75 times in the Champ as a midfielder.
Ridiculously premature to write him off at the age of 24 ( "never going to have the technique" ) even his future won't be with us.

The problem Ince has is he always looked more impressive in a 3-man midfield where he could play the role of a Poundland version of Patrick Viera, winning the ball deep and carrying it forward. He isn't suited to a two man midfield, or the style of football Hughton likes to play so for the sake of his career he needs to move on. It's not that he's a bad player, it's just his competition has gone from Caskey, Andrews & Crofts to Sidwell, Stephens, Norwood & Kayal. Sometimes a club outgrows a player and that's what has happened here.

It's the same with Kaz. He was our most exciting winger when the compition was Lopez, an inexperienced March & am always injured Buckley. Sadly for him we've now got the best collection of wingers outside the Premier League and he's never going to force his way in. It's a shame. Also feel it's a bit harsh that a player who's been here (on-and-off) for 7 seasons, racking up close to 150 league games for us isn't being shown much respect. Yes, he's not up to scratch now but he's one of the most iconic and exciting players we've had in the last 10 years and I hope he finds another Championship club and can recapture his form from the start of last season. One of the last links to Withdean too.

Good luck to both of them, two of my favourite Albion players from recent times.

I know one tackle doesn't make - or define - a player, but the one that Rohan Ince put in during the second half against Arsenal in the FA cup game will always be a good memory.

I have always said that Ince is Div I standard at the best so this coupled with Lua Lua's form due to many injuries mean that such a move is both very predictable and expected for both of them

I think Rohan Ince has gone backwards ever since Oscar Garcia moved him into midfield a few years ago. On the odd occasion I have seen him play at centre back, he has looked really assured.

I'd rather see kaz playing than skalak.

Skalak was our top assist maker last season (only signed in Jan!) and is leading it again this season. He's having a dip in form currently but is still LIGHTYEARS better than Kaz.

To be fair I think he is a different sort of player too. Kaz is much more of an old fashioned winger, speedy, tricky, and good at going past players. As you say though Jiri has far more assists and is so much better from set piece situations.

Blimey. Then you are effectively saying he's 'gone backwards' since his debut in August 2013 as a holding midfielder. ?
What are all these appearances as a CB where you've seen him play ? *

* He did play as a CB earlier this season in the League Cup v Colchester when we were having our CB issues. But struggling to think another occasion where he's been picked there.
Hughton preferred Bruno / Ben White ahead of him in those early league games this season before we signed Duffy.

I actually think he should go to Pompey, he will be involved in a promotion battle and have to play in front of big crowds, it would do him the world of good!

I suppose what I'm saying, is that it's a shame Oscar tried to reinvent him as a midfielder, rather than leaving him alone as a central defender. Admittedly I haven't seen too much of him as a centre back, but from seeing him play a few games for the development squad, and the EFL Cup game that you mention, he looked quite good.

But yes it seems that Chris Hughton doesn't rate him either.

Agreed Pompey seem the obvious option for the reasons you gave. I guess it depends on how much football Pompey will actually allow him to play too.

If he'd have stayed here as a centre back he would have gone nowhere, Defensive centre mid is his best position and Oscar got it spot on. Even Fulham took him on loan as a midfielder not a centre back so it say's what managers think of him.
