I read in the press yesterday that the UK doesn't ask EU migrants to register as a UK resident. Is this actually true? Seems a bit odd to me.

According to a Burnley fish n chip woman we are going to have a civil war if the government fail to deliver on Brexit.

This and other survey results on Sky News.

I am unable to post a link as doing so is unacceptable to leavers as any detail which may be seen as negative has been banned now we are leaving.

quite likely. the EU rules on free movement require that each country apply laws and regulation to other EU citizens as it would their own nationals. theres no "register" of UK residents, so there would be nothing for EU migrants to register with and a special register would be against the rules. nearest thing is the electoral roll, which is optional.

Theresa May's Brexit plans were thrown into chaos today after Britain's ambassador to the EU unexpectedly quit

Not my words, but those of The Daily Mail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ust-weeks-Theresa-set-start-Brexit-talks.html

Enjoy.

If he was due to leave in November anyway, it might be best to have a new man in from start to finish of the process. I see Farage is touted as a replacement in the comments, a sure way to get a shite deal with the EU.

And just for balance, from the same article:

"Brexit supporters welcomed his premature departure, which was due for November, and called for the Prime Minister to replace the Europhile with a more 'optimistic' diplomat."

Spot on!

Why are you so scared of the EU, if it is ever powerful and punitive better off out of it, why wouldnt you expect it to accept our democratic vote and acknowledge the net billions we have contributed, the £billions it has and continues to sell to us year on year and our input in the regions security it seems you are willing to capitulate at every move, man up for gods sake .....

What are you talking about? How is rubbishing Farages credentials for this job, capitulating or showing fear of the EU?
The job requires some diplomacy I believe, do you disagree?

Diplomacy is a facade its the easy bit, the reality is more about nuts and bolts negotiation, what can we do for each other and ours and the EU's and national member states individual interests and how a deal might be agreed.

And you think Farage is the man for that?

Well I suspect that he will not be the man for it, but I cannot be sure how he is seen within Brussels, if as would be normal he would be seen as quite an influential and successful politician, probably more so than those already there.

I have no doubt that you and others really still want someone that might represent your views ahead of those Brexiteers that won the referendum , so I am not sure that you will ever be happy.

The UK plays hard ball it's called getting the best deal. The EU plays hard ball it's called being powerful and punitive.

Why not, at least he would have the guts to speak up and support the UK, we all saw the non deals that Cameron came back with last time out, one of the reasons many voted out.

Given that the EU felt the concessions he won were substantial, you can see that the expectations of what the UK and the EU feel is fair and reasonable, are going to be quite different.

I want someone with realistic expectations, as well as wanting the best outcome for Britain. Not someone who wants it all our way or to hell with it.

Interesting piece on Sky News from Burnley just now. 67 per cent Leave vote and it seems that most Leavers were driven by factors not directly connected to our membership of the European Union. I suppose most of us knew that anyway.
