I am absolutely baffled that here we are on deadline day and the only obvious things we've done this year from an acquisiton perspective are to replace Greer and Zamora. One of those transfers (Murray) was inevitable as soon as the season finished. All summer to get the Wilson upgrade and we've not done it yet.

Yes, the club has done fantastically well to keep hold of the core of the side but it's very odd that we've barely improved at all. An upgrade on BZ yes, a bit more experience in the middle if we get injuries (or are forced to sell Stephens in January if we're outside the playoffs...) and a younger Greer, but for me today is the day that will make the difference. Are we aiming for play offs with Baldock and Manu or are we going for it?

I suspect the former, sadly.

Sidwell - signed up
Crofts - replaced by Norwood
Chicksen - replaced by Adekugbe
Zamora - replaced by Murray
Calde - replaced by Pocognoli
Greer - replaced by Duffy

Just the Wilson replacement to do. Not bad going into TDD.

This.

Pretty good business, all round - and that's if you only consider 'this year' to mean the summer. 'This year' we've actually also added Skalak and most importantly, Knockaert. And have March about to return.

January was fantastic. Knockaert is the best player in the league. I'm not judging that here, just amazed we haven't signed the one obvious missing link

Duffy isn't a younger Greer, he's better than Greer was.

Of course it's disappointing that we haven't got the number 10 we need, but I'm sure Tony is more disappointed than you. He's been prepared to spend the money, we just hasn't been able to get our targets. C'est la vie.

Is he? Time will tell.

We've added a new left back yes. Better than Rosenior last year? Again, too early to judge. You're right though, we are stronger certainly in numbers in the event of another crisis.

I agree, good business but.. Don't sign a striker today, which I believe we will, and we will go until January with three first choice strikers leaving open to chance in relation to form and fitness or having to paly someone out of position. That would be a huge gamble and I for one would be disappointed with the recruitment in spite of the above since this has been key all summer.

We've broken our transfer record and he's a defender, I should bloody hope he's better than Greer.

Come on, we haven't sold Rosenior. Rosenior wasn't brought here as a left back, he's a better right back and is also decent on the right wing.

Correct me if i am wrong, we were the biggest scorers in the league last year and have already improved the attacking options with since Jan with Murray, Knockeart and Skalek, plus March coming back, so would be happy to keep what we have please.

Apart from Murray the players you mention are wide players who can, at a push play centrally and will chip in with goals, but however you put it 3 strikers is not enough for a promotion seeking side. As I have said before any sort of injury or loss of form, which hemed suffered from last season, would seriously undermine our challenge in spite of our excellent options in wide areas. Lets hope we are disagreeing for no reason come the end of the window.
