What Is this right a wrong? You remainers are unbelievable you really are .

Read.

I was referring specifically to a group of people who had voted leave and might have changed their mind, now that there is a clearer indication of what that may (or may not) actually involve.

I have absolutely no idea how you came to that conclusion. You wanted parliamentary sovereignty, well now you've got it. Parliament will decide.
The conclusion is reached as if the result were the other way round, this would never have been on the agenda. Parliament and the staunch remainers would have continued along as though the referendum had never taken place. Would this fund manager have taken the government to court? Never in a million years.

This post makes absolutely no sense. If the result had been the other way round, there would be nothing for Government to do, and thus nothing to determine Parliamentary power over.

Looks tight if the bookies are anything to go by (they usually are but as we all know, NOT always)

In truth it would need an extraordinary swing for the LibDems to take this one:

1) Conservative Zac Goldsmith 34,404 58.2%
2) Liberal Democrat Robin Meltzer 11,389 19.3%

Indeed it would, but far from impossible. We live in strange political times.

This is an area which voted 69% remain. Goldsmith is rabid leave. Both main candidates are anti LHR expansion so that shouldn't factor. The Brexit situation however, will factor heavily in this seat I suspect. Goldsmith has muck on his hands from a particularly dirty Mayoral campaign. That is fresh in many minds. UKIP piggy backing on Goldsmith may well send a few to the LD's too. So many factors in the mix for this one.

I certainly view it more winnable for the LibDems than Camerons old seat which is more 'old money' than Richmond. The L.D.s whittled down the Tory majority to 5000 odd in Witney. It'll be a close call. Watch this space......

So you think that will happen do you? People whom I work were fuming about this decision. All leavers they won't be changing their minds.

Not all. Not even lots. But comfortably enough, yes. (Only needs to be about 3% of them).

It will be an interesting one. If Goldsmith wins easily, however, it shows that MPs can go against their constituents' wishes on the EU - so MPs who want to vote Remain in a Brexit constituency will know that they may be able to do that with impunity. If Goldsmith loses (or wins narrowly) it would be a warning shot to MPs who were thinking of against their electorate on this issue

There's a pause and an escape hatch here. Will the EU and the UK see this opportunity though? Or are they too proud? The EU does need change and can change for the better. It can also change to UKs advantage and betterment. If I was May I'd jump on the first plan to Brussels and start working on something. A reworked EU can work for the benefit of the UK and the EU. Get proper change and put this to the people.

so after all your spoutings that you dont like referendums and dont want a second referendum you now want a second referendum by the back door.
true colours etc etc

I work with 2 leavers who have definitely changed their minds now that they appreciate the risks involved and potential impact on their kid's futures...

You need to get over the fact that remain lost the referendum. It doesn't matter if it was by 1.5%. It lost. It's pathetic really quite sad to think that there are adults like yourself that have spat the dummy out and refused to accept the result.

After the referendum they came out on the streets. Do they think the leavers would sit back and accept this.

I see what you mean although I was stating that as the referendum act was clumsily written, it allowed remainers to challenge the vote. I concede you are right in that of course, if remain had won, then nothing changes.

Sorry, but that absolutely DOES matter. It matters enormously. It proves that the country is unconvinced by either argument, and that more information is required to achieve a consensus EITHER way, and thus a true mandate for the chosen path.

Impact of their kids future? What exactly is that? As the remainers keep saying nobody knows what is going to happen.

That's not how our democracy works though is it? When was the last time we had a party in power that enjoyed the popular support of the majority?
